Introduction
The Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe V2 is an advanced overdrive pedal designed to deliver versatile guitar tones, ranging from classic "brown sound" to modern high-gain. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, and maintaining your pedal to ensure optimal performance.

The image displays the red Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe V2 Overdrive Pedal. The top row features four white control knobs labeled BASS, MID, TREBLE, and GAIN. Below these are two smaller toggle switches, one for Modern/Vintage tone shaping and another for Boost/Gain. A blue LED indicates power/status. The bottom row has a large white VOLUME knob and a large white BOOST knob. Two footswitches are present: BYPASS on the left and BOOST on the right, each with an associated LED (blue for Bypass, red for Boost). The pedal's branding 'pinnacle deluxe v2' and 'WAMPLER BUILT IN USA' are visible. Below the pedal are two black right-angle patch cables.
Setup
- Power Connection: Connect a 9-18V DC power supply (center negative) to the DC input jack on the top of the pedal. Ensure the power supply meets the specified voltage and polarity requirements to prevent damage.
- Input/Output Connections: Connect your guitar to the INPUT jack on the right side of the pedal. Connect the OUTPUT jack on the left side of the pedal to your amplifier or the next pedal in your signal chain.
- Patch Cables: The bundle includes two right-angle TS patch cables. These are ideal for connecting the pedal to other effects on a pedalboard, saving space and ensuring a secure connection.
- Initial Settings: Before powering on, set all control knobs to their middle position (12 o'clock) and ensure both toggle switches are in their center or neutral position. This provides a good starting point for tone adjustment.
Operating the Pedal
The Pinnacle Deluxe V2 offers a comprehensive set of controls to sculpt your desired overdrive and distortion tones. Experiment with each control to discover its full range of capabilities.
Control Knobs
- BASS: Adjusts the low-frequency content of your tone. Turn clockwise for more bass, counter-clockwise for less.
- MID: Controls the mid-range frequencies. This is crucial for shaping the pedal's presence and cut.
- TREBLE: Adjusts the high-frequency content. Use to add sparkle or tame harshness.
- GAIN: Determines the amount of overdrive/distortion. Higher settings produce more saturation and sustain.
- VOLUME: Sets the overall output level of the pedal.
- BOOST (Knob): Controls the gain level of the independent boost circuit. This works in conjunction with the Boost footswitch.
Toggle Switches
- MODERN/VINTAGE: This switch alters the overall character of the pedal's tone. The "Vintage" setting typically offers a warmer, more classic overdrive, while "Modern" provides a tighter, more aggressive sound.
- BOOST/GAIN: This switch modifies the gain structure of the boost circuit, offering different flavors of boosted tone.
- SAG: This switch introduces a "sag" effect, emulating the feel of a tube amplifier's power section compressing under heavy load. This can add a unique dynamic and touch sensitivity to your tone.
Footswitches
- BYPASS: Engages or disengages the main overdrive effect. The blue LED indicates when the main effect is active.
- BOOST: Engages or disengages the independent boost circuit. The red LED indicates when the boost is active. This allows for a volume or gain increase for solos or emphasis.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the pedal's exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, which can damage the finish.
- Storage: Store the pedal in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. When not in use for extended periods, disconnect the power supply.
- Cable Care: Regularly inspect all cables for wear and tear. Damaged cables can cause signal loss or noise.
Troubleshooting
- No Sound:
- Check all cable connections (guitar to input, output to amp).
- Ensure the power supply is correctly connected and providing the correct voltage (9-18V DC, center negative).
- Verify that your amplifier is on and functioning correctly.
- Check if the pedal is engaged (blue LED on for main effect).
- Unwanted Noise/Hum:
- Ensure you are using a high-quality, isolated power supply.
- Check for faulty cables or connections.
- Move the pedal away from other electronic devices that might cause interference.
- Effect Not Engaging:
- Confirm the power supply is connected and working.
- Press the BYPASS footswitch firmly.
