1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Optonica 6365 AC Triac Dimmer. This device is designed for mounting on DIN rails or walls and is suitable for all dimmable lamps, adjustable intensity bulbs, or adjustable power supplies within our range with an operating voltage of 100 to 240 V AC. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient installation, operation, and maintenance of your dimmer.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Electrical Safety: Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local electrical codes and regulations. Always disconnect power at the circuit breaker before installation or maintenance.
  • Voltage Compatibility: Ensure the dimmer's voltage (100-240V AC) matches your electrical system.
  • Load Compatibility: This dimmer is designed for dimmable LED loads. Do not exceed the maximum output power of 480W or current of 2A.
  • Environment: Do not expose the device to moisture, extreme temperatures, or corrosive environments.

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Mounting

The Optonica 6365 dimmer can be mounted on a standard DIN rail or directly to a wall.

  • DIN Rail Mounting: Snap the dimmer onto the DIN rail until it clicks into place. Ensure it is securely fastened.
  • Wall Mounting: Use appropriate screws (not included) to secure the dimmer to a flat, stable surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the device.

4.2 Wiring Diagram

WARNING: Ensure power is OFF at the circuit breaker before performing any wiring. Incorrect wiring can cause damage to the device, property, or personal injury.

Connect the dimmer according to the following diagram:

  • L (Live Input): Connect the live wire from your AC power supply.
  • N (Neutral Input): Connect the neutral wire from your AC power supply.
  • L' (Dimmed Live Output): Connect to the live input of your dimmable LED load.
  • N (Neutral Output): Connect to the neutral input of your dimmable LED load.
  • PUSH (Push Button Input): Connect a momentary push button switch between this terminal and the Live (L) terminal for local control.

After wiring, ensure all connections are secure and insulated. Restore power to the circuit.

5. Operating Instructions

The Optonica 6365 dimmer offers two primary control methods: local push-button control and optional 2.4 GHz radio control.

5.1 Push Button Control

  • Short Press: A quick press and release of the connected push button will turn the connected lights ON or OFF.
  • Long Press: Press and hold the push button to dim the lights up or down. Release the button when the desired brightness level is reached. The dimming direction will reverse with each subsequent long press.

5.2 Radio Control (Optional)

The dimmer supports 2.4 GHz radio control with compatible Optonica remote controls or wall panels (sold separately). Refer to the instruction manual of your specific Optonica radio controller for pairing and operation details.

  • Pairing: Typically involves a short press of a 'Match' or 'Set' button on the dimmer (if available, refer to device markings) or a specific power cycle sequence, followed by an action on the remote.
  • Operation: Once paired, the remote control can be used to turn lights ON/OFF and adjust brightness levels.

6. Maintenance

The Optonica 6365 dimmer requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Disconnect power before cleaning. Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Inspection: Periodically check wiring connections for tightness and signs of wear or damage.

7. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Lights do not turn ON/OFF. No power supply; incorrect wiring; faulty bulb; dimmer malfunction. Check circuit breaker; verify wiring connections; replace bulb; contact support.
Lights do not dim. Non-dimmable bulbs; incorrect wiring; dimmer malfunction. Ensure bulbs are dimmable; verify wiring; contact support.
Flickering lights. Incompatible LED load; minimum load not met; faulty wiring. Ensure LED load is compatible with Triac dimmers; check if total wattage meets dimmer's minimum load (if applicable); inspect wiring.
Radio control not working. Not paired; remote battery low; interference. Re-pair the remote; replace remote battery; check for 2.4 GHz interference.
