Image: A person using the DURFICST WM700B Pinless Moisture Meter to measure moisture in an overhead wooden beam, demonstrating the non-destructive measurement method.

  1. Ensure the device is calibrated (refer to Section 4.2).
  2. Place the spherical sensor flat against the surface of the material you wish to measure.
  3. Move the sensor slowly across the surface. The display will show real-time moisture readings.
  4. The measurement depth is approximately 20-40mm.
  5. Avoid placing the sensor near metal objects or within 10 cm of corners, as this can affect accuracy.
  6. To obtain a reference value, first measure a known dry area of the same material.

5.2 Understanding Readings and Alarms

Image: The DURFICST WM700B display, illustrating the digital moisture reading, MAX/MIN values, analog color bar (Green for Dry, Yellow for Risk, Red for Wet), and battery indicator. The image also shows the device in use near a sink pipe.

  • The main digital display shows the current moisture value (0.0-100.0). Note that these are relative values, not absolute percentages for all materials.
  • The analog color bar provides a quick visual guide:
    • Green: Indicates a dry condition.
    • Yellow: Indicates a risk of moisture.
    • Red: Indicates a wet condition.
  • The device features an audible alarm. This alarm activates when the measured moisture level exceeds a user-defined threshold.
  • To set the alarm threshold:
    1. Press the SET Button to enter alarm setting mode.
    2. Use the Up/Down Arrow Buttons to adjust the desired alarm value.
    3. Press SET again to confirm and exit.
  • The display also shows MAX and MIN values, representing the highest and lowest readings recorded during the current measurement session.
  • The device has a Data Hold function. Press the appropriate arrow button (often the 'Up' arrow) to freeze the current reading on the display. Press again to release.
