5. Setup

Battery Installation:

Each QNIGLO Q168 walkie talkie requires 4 AAA batteries (not included).

1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the walkie talkie.

3. Insert 4 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and - terminals match the markings inside the compartment).

6. Basic Operation

6.1 Power On/Off:

• To power on, press and hold the Power/Menu button until the display lights up.
• To power off, press and hold the Power/Menu button until the display turns off.

6.2 Adjusting Volume:

• While the walkie talkie is on, press the Up (+) button to increase the volume.
• Press the Down (-) button to decrease the volume.
• The current volume level will be displayed on the screen.

6.3 Channel Selection:

The QNIGLO Q168 has 8 available channels.

1. Short press the Power/Menu button once. The channel number on the display will flash.
2. Use the Up (+) or Down (-) buttons to select your desired channel (1-8).
3. Press the Power/Menu button again to confirm your selection, or wait a few seconds for it to automatically set.
4. Important: Both walkie talkies must be on the same channel to communicate.

6.4 Transmitting and Receiving:

• To transmit, press and hold the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button. Speak clearly into the microphone.
• Release the PTT button to stop transmitting and listen for a response.
• When receiving a signal, the signal strength indicator on the display will show activity.

7. Advanced Features

7.1 VOX (Voice Operated Exchange):

VOX allows you to transmit without pressing the PTT button. The walkie talkie will automatically transmit when it detects your voice.

1. Press the Power/Menu button twice. The VOX icon will flash on the display.
2. Use the Up (+) or Down (-) buttons to select the VOX sensitivity level (e.g., 1-3, with 3 being most sensitive). Select "OF" to turn VOX off.
3. Press the Power/Menu button again to confirm.

7.2 Scan Function:

The scan function allows the walkie talkie to automatically scan all 8 channels for activity.

1. Press the Power/Menu button three times. The "SCAN" icon will appear on the display.
2. The walkie talkie will begin scanning channels. When a signal is detected, it will stop on that channel.
3. To stop scanning, press the PTT button or the Power/Menu button.

7.3 Monitor Function:

The monitor function allows you to listen to weak signals on the current channel by temporarily disabling the squelch.

• Press and hold the MON button to activate the monitor function.
• Release the MON button to return to normal operation.
