3. Setup Guide

3.1 Unboxing and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all items listed in the 'What's in the Box' section (Section 6.1) are present and undamaged.

3.2 Connecting the Keyboard

The Advantage360 Professional model connects wirelessly via Bluetooth. Ensure both halves are charged using the provided USB-C cables. For initial setup or wired use, connect the left half to your computer using one of the USB-C cables. The right half connects to the left half via a short bridge cable (included).

3.3 Adjusting Tenting and Separation

The keyboard features integrated tenting legs on the underside of each module. Adjust these to one of the three available heights (low, medium, high) to find the most comfortable angle for your wrists. Experiment with the separation distance between the two halves to align your arms at shoulder width, promoting a neutral wrist and arm posture.

For users who prefer a fixed, closer spacing similar to the original Advantage keyboard, the included bridge connector can be used to physically link the two halves.

4. Operating the Keyboard

4.1 Basic Typing

The contoured keywells and vertical key columns are designed to reduce finger stretching and promote a more natural finger movement. Utilize the dedicated thumb clusters for frequently used keys like Enter, Space, Backspace, and Delete to distribute the workload more evenly across your hands.

4.2 Programmability and Customization

The Advantage360 is fully programmable, allowing extensive customization. You can remap any key, create custom layouts, and assign advanced functions such as tap-and-hold commands or macros. Refer to the official Kinesis website for detailed instructions and software tools for programming your keyboard.

4.3 Backlighting

The keyboard features single-color backlighting. Use the designated function keys (refer to your keyboard's keycap legends or the programming guide) to adjust brightness or toggle the backlighting on/off.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Kinesis Advantage360 keyboard, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the keycaps and keyboard surface with a soft, lint-free cloth. For deeper cleaning, you may use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap, ensuring no liquid enters the keyboard. The durable PBT keycaps are resistant to shine and wear.
  • Dust Removal: Use compressed air to remove dust and debris from between the keys.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the keyboard in a clean, dry environment away from extreme temperatures.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Kinesis Advantage360 keyboard, please refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Connectivity Issues (Bluetooth): Ensure both keyboard halves are charged. Verify Bluetooth is enabled on your computer and the keyboard is paired correctly. Try unpairing and re-pairing the keyboard. Move closer to your computer to rule out signal interference.
  • Keys Not Responding: Check for any physical obstructions under the keycap. If a specific key is not responding, try remapping it to another function temporarily to see if the issue is with the key or the programming.
  • Backlighting Not Working: Ensure the backlighting feature is enabled and the brightness is turned up using the designated function keys.
  • Firmware Update: Periodically check the Kinesis website for firmware updates, which can resolve known issues and improve performance.

For persistent issues, please contact Kinesis customer support.
