4. Setup

4.1 Power Connection

  1. Connect the provided 110V power adapter to the DC IN port on the mixer.
  2. Plug the power adapter into a suitable electrical outlet.
  3. Press the POWER button to turn on the mixer. The power indicator light will illuminate.

4.2 Connecting Microphones and Instruments

The SE-60 features four MIC/INST inputs (XLR/TRS combo jacks) and one stereo line input (CH 5-6 ST IN).

  • Microphones: Connect dynamic microphones using XLR cables to MIC/INST 1-4. For condenser microphones, connect via XLR and activate the +48V PHANTOM POWER button for the respective channel.
  • Instruments: Connect instruments like guitars or basses directly to MIC/INST 1-4 using a 1/4" TRS cable. Press the INST-HI-Z button for the corresponding channel to optimize the input impedance for instruments.
  • Stereo Line Input: Use the CH 5-6 ST IN (1/4" TRS L/Mono and R jacks) for connecting stereo line-level devices such as keyboards or media players.

4.3 Connecting Output Devices

  • Main Output: Connect your main speakers or amplifier to the MAIN OUT L and R (XLR or 1/4" TRS) jacks.
  • Headphones: Plug your headphones into the PHONES (1/4" TRS) jack for monitoring.

4.4 Computer Connection (USB)

Connect the mixer to your computer using a USB cable. The mixer functions as an audio interface, allowing for recording and playback through your computer's audio software.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Operation and Gain Staging

  1. Ensure all volume knobs (VOL) are set to minimum before powering on.
  2. Power on the mixer, then your amplifier/speakers.
  3. For each input channel, gradually increase the GAIN knob until the signal peak indicator (PK!) flashes only occasionally during the loudest parts of the performance. This sets the input level correctly.
  4. Adjust the channel VOL knob to balance the levels of different inputs.
  5. Use the MAIN OUT L/R level control to set the overall output volume.

5.2 Channel Controls

  • HIGH: Adjusts the high-frequency (treble) content of the channel.
  • LOW: Adjusts the low-frequency (bass) content of the channel.
  • FX: Controls the amount of signal sent to the internal DSP effects processor.
  • PAN: Positions the channel's sound within the stereo field (left to right).
  • VOL: Adjusts the output volume of the individual channel.

5.3 Bluetooth Connectivity

The SE-60 features built-in Bluetooth for wireless audio streaming.

  1. Press the MODE button on the MP3 player section until 'BT' is displayed on the screen.
  2. On your Bluetooth-enabled device (e.g., smartphone, tablet), search for available devices.
  3. Select 'WEYMIC SE-60' (or similar name) from the list to pair.
  4. Once paired, you can stream audio wirelessly to the mixer. Use the integrated controls (play/pause, skip tracks) on the mixer or your device.

5.4 USB Playback and Recording

The USB port allows for playback of audio files from a USB flash drive and connection to a computer for recording.

  • USB Playback: Insert a USB flash drive containing MP3, WMA, APE, or FLAC audio files into the USB port. The mixer will automatically detect and begin playback. Use the controls (play/pause, skip) on the mixer to manage playback.
  • Computer Recording: Connect the mixer to your computer via USB. The mixer will be recognized as an audio input device. Open your preferred digital audio workstation (DAW) or recording software and select the WEYMIC SE-60 as the input device to record your mix.

5.5 DSP Effects

The mixer includes a built-in DSP effect chip. Use the FX knob on each channel to send a portion of that channel's signal to the effects processor. The overall effect level can be adjusted with the dedicated EFFECT LEVEL knob.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe the mixer's surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the mixer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Cable Care: Avoid bending or twisting cables excessively. Store them neatly to prevent damage.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Sound Output:
    • Check if the mixer is powered on.
    • Verify all cables are securely connected (inputs, main outputs, headphones).
    • Ensure channel VOL and MAIN OUT level knobs are turned up.
    • Check if the connected amplifier/speakers are powered on and functioning.
  • Distorted Sound:
    • Reduce the GAIN knob for the input channel to prevent clipping (PK! indicator flashing constantly).
    • Lower the channel VOL or MAIN OUT level.
    • Check if the connected audio source is sending a clean signal.
  • Bluetooth Not Connecting:
    • Ensure the mixer is in Bluetooth mode ('BT' displayed).
    • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device and it's within range.
    • Try unpairing and re-pairing the device.
  • USB Playback Not Working:
    • Ensure the USB flash drive is properly inserted.
    • Check that the audio files are in a supported format (MP3, WMA, APE, FLAC).
    • Try a different USB flash drive.
  • 48V Phantom Power Not Working:
    • Ensure the +48V button is pressed for the specific channel.
    • Verify that your condenser microphone requires phantom power.
