2.2 Components and Controls
Familiarize yourself with the main components and controls of your walkie talkie:

- Antenna: For transmitting and receiving signals.

- Menu/Lock Button: Accesses menu settings and locks/unlocks the keypad.

3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
- Ensure the walkie talkie is powered off.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
- Slide the belt clip upwards to remove it if attached.
- Gently push down and slide the battery cover off.
- Insert the 1200mAh Li-ion battery into the compartment, ensuring the contacts align correctly.
- Replace the battery cover and slide the belt clip back into place until it clicks.

3.2 Charging the Battery
Before first use, fully charge the battery. A fully charged battery provides approximately 3-4 days of usage.
- Connect the USB-C charging cable to the Charge Jack on the walkie talkie.
- Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to a compatible USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, power bank, computer USB port).
- The battery indicator on the LCD display will show charging status.
- Once fully charged, disconnect the cable.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off
- To power on, press and hold the Power Button until the LCD display illuminates.
- To power off, press and hold the Power Button until the display turns off.
4.2 Adjusting Volume
- Press the Up Button to increase the volume.
- Press the Down Button to decrease the volume.
- The volume level will be displayed on the LCD screen.
4.3 Selecting Channels and Privacy Codes
Your walkie talkies support 22 channels and 121 privacy codes (CTCSS/DCS) for secure communication.
- Press the Menu Button once to enter channel selection mode. The channel number will flash.
- Use the Up or Down Buttons to select your desired channel (1-22).
- Press the Menu Button again to confirm the channel and move to privacy code selection. The privacy code will flash.
- Use the Up or Down Buttons to select your desired privacy code (0-121). Code 0 means no privacy code.
- Press the Menu Button a third time or wait a few seconds for the setting to be saved automatically.
- For communication, all walkie talkies in your group must be set to the same channel and privacy code.
4.4 Transmitting and Receiving
- To transmit, press and hold the PTT Button. Speak clearly into the microphone. The transmit icon will appear on the LCD.
- Release the PTT Button to stop transmitting and return to receive mode.
- When receiving a signal, the receive icon will appear on the LCD.
4.5 Keypad Lock
To prevent accidental changes to settings:
- To lock the keypad, press and hold the Menu/Lock Button until the lock icon appears on the LCD.
- To unlock, press and hold the Menu/Lock Button again until the lock icon disappears.
4.6 VOX (Voice Operated Exchange)
VOX allows hands-free operation. When VOX is enabled, the walkie talkie will automatically transmit when it detects your voice.
- Press the Menu Button repeatedly until the VOX icon flashes on the LCD.
- Use the Up or Down Buttons to select the VOX sensitivity level (e.g., 1-3, with 3 being most sensitive). Select 'OFF' to disable VOX.
- Press the Menu Button or wait for the setting to be saved.
4.7 Auto Squelch
The auto squelch feature automatically mutes weak signals or background noise, ensuring clearer communication. This feature is typically enabled by default and requires no user adjustment.
4.8 Auto Scan
The auto scan feature allows the walkie talkie to scan all 22 channels for active transmissions.
- To activate scan, press and hold the MON (Monitor) Button or a dedicated scan button if available (refer to your specific model's button layout). The walkie talkie will cycle through channels.
- When a signal is detected, the scan will pause on that channel.
- To stop scanning, press the same button again.
4.9 Range and Environment
The communication range varies based on terrain and obstructions:
- Open Areas (rural, suburbs, seaside): Up to 3 miles (approx. 4.8 km).
- Cities/Towns (with obstructions): 0.7-1.2 miles (approx. 1.1-1.9 km).
- Mountain to Valley: Up to 18 miles (optimal conditions).
- Open Water: Up to 5 miles.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Battery Care
- Always use the provided USB-C cable for charging.
- Do not attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries.
- Avoid overcharging; disconnect the charger once the battery is full.
- If storing the walkie talkie for an extended period, remove the battery.
- Dispose of batteries responsibly according to local regulations.
5.2 Cleaning
- Wipe the exterior of the walkie talkie with a soft, damp cloth.
- Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Ensure the device is dry before use or storage.
5.3 Storage
- Store the walkie talkies in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
