Operating Instructions and Conversions

The HARPPA Mini Crib offers 6 configurations to meet your child's needs from infancy through toddlerhood.

1. Crib Mode

Use as a standard mini crib for newborns and infants. Ensure the mattress is at an appropriate height for your child's developmental stage. For newborns, a higher mattress setting allows for easier access. As your child grows and can push up on hands and knees, or pull to a standing position, lower the mattress to the lowest setting.

2. Bedside Sleeper Mode

To convert to a bedside sleeper, lower one of the side rails. This allows the crib to be placed next to an adult bed, providing close proximity to your baby while maintaining a separate sleep space. Ensure the crib is securely fastened to the adult bed if attachment straps are provided (check your specific model's assembly guide).

3. Toddler Bed Mode

When your child is ready to transition from a crib, typically around 18-36 months, the crib can be converted into a toddler bed by removing one of the side rails. This allows the child to enter and exit independently.

4. Daybed Mode

Similar to the toddler bed, the daybed configuration involves removing one side rail, providing an open sleeping or lounging space for an older child.

5. Mini Playpen Mode

The crib can function as a secure playpen. Ensure the mattress is at the lowest setting for maximum safety and to prevent climbing out.

6. Desk Mode

For conversion to a desk, follow the specific instructions in your assembly guide. This typically involves adjusting the mattress support to a higher position and potentially removing one or more side panels to create a functional workspace.

Adjustable Mattress Height

The mattress support base can be adjusted to 3 convenient positions to grow with your baby. Refer to the assembly guide for detailed instructions on changing the mattress height.

Cradle/Rocking Function

The crib features a cradle mode. By adjusting the wheels, the crib can be set to gently rock, which may help soothe your baby to sleep. Ensure the rocking mechanism is engaged correctly and the crib is stable when in use.

Under-Crib Storage

The crib includes a storage area beneath the mattress support. This space is ideal for storing extra bedding, diapers, or other baby essentials. When the mattress is in its lowest position, a screw is provided to secure the storage access door, preventing accidental opening by the child.

Maintenance and Care

Proper care will ensure the longevity and safety of your HARPPA Mini Crib.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the crib frame with a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or strong chemicals that could damage the wood finish.
  • Mattress Care: The dual-sided mattress features Ice Silk on one side for warmer weather and pure cotton fabric on the other for cooler weather. Follow specific care instructions for the mattress cover.
  • Hardware Check: Periodically check all screws, bolts, and fasteners to ensure they are tight. Do not overtighten.
  • Storage: If storing the crib for an extended period, disassemble it according to the instructions and store all parts in a dry, safe place.

Troubleshooting

Issue: Difficulty during assembly.
Solution: Ensure you are following the assembly guide step-by-step. Verify that all pieces are oriented correctly. Sometimes, a slight loosening of previously tightened screws can help align new parts. If a part seems ill-fitting or damaged, do not force it; contact customer support for assistance or replacement parts.
Issue: Mattress feels too firm.
Solution: The included mattress is designed to be firm for infant safety, as recommended by pediatric guidelines. If you prefer a softer mattress for an older child, ensure any replacement mattress meets the exact dimensions (24" x 38") and safety standards for mini cribs to prevent entrapment hazards.
Issue: Crib seems unstable or wobbly.
Solution: Recheck all connections and ensure all screws and bolts are securely tightened. Verify that the crib is on a flat, level surface. If wheels are installed, ensure they are locked when the crib is stationary.
Issue: Missing or damaged parts upon arrival.
Solution: Do not attempt to assemble the crib with missing or damaged parts. Immediately contact HARPPA customer support for free replacement parts under warranty.
