4. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the measuring clock from its packaging. Inspect for any visible damage.
  2. Mounting: The measuring clock is typically mounted on a suitable stand or fixture using its stem (8mm diameter) or the lug on the back. Ensure it is securely fastened to prevent movement during measurement.
  3. Zeroing the Indicator:
    • Position the contact point against a known reference surface or the part to be measured at its starting point.
    • Rotate the outer bezel until the main pointer aligns with the '0' mark on the dial.
    • Ensure the small revolution counter is also at a suitable starting position, typically '0' if the measurement starts from a true zero point.

5. Operating Instructions

To take a measurement with the YATO YT-72450 Measuring Clock:

  1. Prepare the Workpiece: Ensure the surface of the workpiece to be measured is clean and stable.
  2. Position the Indicator: Mount the measuring clock on a stable stand. Bring the contact point into gentle contact with the surface of the workpiece.
  3. Set Zero: With the contact point at the desired reference position, rotate the bezel to align the main pointer with the '0' mark.
  4. Take Measurement: Move the workpiece or the indicator stand to measure the desired dimension or variation. The main pointer will indicate the change in position in hundredths of a millimeter (0.01mm).
  5. Read the Dial:
    • The large pointer on the main dial indicates fractions of a millimeter, with each major division representing 0.1mm and each small division representing 0.01mm.
    • The small pointer on the revolution counter indicates full millimeters. Each full rotation of the large pointer corresponds to 1mm, and the small pointer moves one division.
    • The total measurement is the sum of the full millimeters shown on the small counter and the fractional millimeters shown on the main dial.
  6. Maximum Range: The device has a total measuring range of 10mm. Do not exceed this range to prevent damage.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe the measuring clock with a soft, clean, lint-free cloth. For stubborn dirt, a cloth lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol can be used, ensuring no liquid enters the internal mechanism.
  • Lubrication: The internal mechanisms are factory-lubricated and generally do not require user lubrication. Unauthorized lubrication can attract dust and impair performance.
  • Storage: Store the measuring clock in its original protective case or a dedicated storage box in a dry, dust-free environment. Avoid areas with high humidity or temperature fluctuations.
  • Calibration: For critical applications, periodic calibration by a qualified technician is recommended to ensure continued accuracy.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Pointer does not move smoothly: Check for any visible obstructions or dirt on the stem or contact point. Ensure the device is clean. If the issue persists, professional service may be required.
  • Inaccurate readings: Verify that the indicator is securely mounted and that the workpiece is stable. Ensure the zero point was set correctly. Check for any play in the mounting or the indicator's stem.
  • Bezel is stiff: Clean around the bezel to remove any accumulated dust or debris. Do not force the bezel.

If you encounter problems that cannot be resolved with these steps, please contact YATO customer support or a qualified service center.
