4. Safety Instructions

Always observe the following safety precautions when using the YATO YT-72995 tool:

  • Read and understand all instructions before operating the tool.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and gloves, to protect against coolant splashes and compressed air.
  • Ensure the vehicle's engine is cool before working on the cooling system. Hot coolant can cause severe burns.
  • Use the tool only with a clean, dry air compressor capable of providing the specified operating pressure (6.2 bar).
  • Do not exceed the maximum operating pressure of the tool.
  • Keep children and bystanders away from the work area.
  • Dispose of old coolant responsibly according to local environmental regulations.
  • Inspect all hoses and connections for damage or leaks before each use.
  • Never leave the tool unattended while connected to an air supply or vehicle.

5. Setup

Before beginning the vacuum filling process, ensure your vehicle's cooling system is drained and ready for refilling.

  1. Prepare the Vehicle: Ensure the engine is completely cool. Drain the old coolant from the system. Close all drain plugs and ensure all hoses are securely connected.
  2. Connect to Air Compressor: Connect the air compressor connection fitting to your air compressor's hose. Ensure the air compressor is set to the recommended operating pressure of 6.2 bar.
  3. Attach to Cooling System: Select the appropriate conical adapter (15-45 mm) that fits snugly into the vehicle's radiator filler neck or coolant reservoir opening. Connect the main vacuum filling unit to this adapter. Ensure a tight seal to prevent air leaks.
  4. Connect Transparent Hose: Attach the transparent filling hose to the designated inlet on the main vacuum unit. The other end of this hose will be placed into the new coolant container during the filling phase.

6. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to create a vacuum and refill your cooling system:

  1. Create Vacuum: Open the air valve on the main vacuum unit. Compressed air will flow through the venturi, creating a vacuum in the cooling system. Observe the pressure gauge; it should drop to -1 bar (full vacuum).
  2. Monitor for Leaks: Once the gauge reaches -1 bar, close the air valve. The gauge should hold the vacuum for at least 2-3 minutes. If the vacuum drops, there is a leak in the cooling system or the tool's connection. Identify and fix any leaks before proceeding.
  3. Prepare Coolant: Place the open end of the transparent filling hose into a container of new, pre-mixed coolant. Ensure the hose end is submerged below the coolant level.
  4. Fill Cooling System: Slowly open the coolant intake valve on the main vacuum unit. The vacuum in the cooling system will draw the coolant from the container into the system. The transparent hose allows you to observe the coolant flow and ensure no air bubbles are entering.
  5. Complete Filling: Continue filling until the cooling system is full and the coolant level in the reservoir reaches the recommended mark. Close the coolant intake valve.
  6. Disconnect: Disconnect the tool from the vehicle's cooling system. Replace the radiator cap or reservoir cap.
  7. Final Check: Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature. Check for any leaks and ensure the coolant level remains stable. Top up if necessary after the engine cools down.

7. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and reliability of your YATO YT-72995 tool:

  • Cleaning: After each use, clean the tool components, especially the transparent hose and adapters, with water to remove any coolant residue. Dry thoroughly.
  • Storage: Store the tool in its original plastic case in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect all hoses, seals, and fittings for signs of wear, cracks, or damage. Replace any worn components immediately.
  • Air Supply: Ensure your air compressor's air supply is clean and dry to prevent moisture or contaminants from entering the tool.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues while using the tool, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Tool does not create vacuum or vacuum drops quickly.Loose connections, damaged hose/adapter, leak in cooling system, insufficient air pressure.Check all connections for tightness. Inspect hoses and adapters for damage. Verify air compressor pressure. Check vehicle cooling system for leaks.
Coolant does not draw into the system.Coolant intake valve closed, hose not submerged, air lock in hose, insufficient vacuum.Ensure coolant intake valve is open. Make sure transparent hose is fully submerged in coolant. Check for kinks in the hose. Re-establish full vacuum.
Gauge reading is inaccurate.Gauge damage, internal blockage.Contact YATO customer support for assistance or replacement.
