Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your Sun Joe metal detector. For a visual guide, please refer to the assembly video below.

1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts listed in the manual are present.
2. Connect Pole Sections:
   • Connect the middle pole to the lower pole by aligning the spring-loaded buttons with the holes and pushing them together until they click into place.
   • Connect the upper pole to the middle pole in the same manner.
3. Attach Armrest: Slide the armrest onto the upper pole and secure it using the provided screw and knob.
4. Mount Control Panel: Attach the control panel to the upper pole, ensuring it is securely fastened with the locking collar.
5. Attach Search Coil:
   • Align the search coil with the lower pole.
   • Insert the plastic bolt through the holes in the coil and the pole, then secure it with the knob.
6. Connect Search Coil Cable: Wrap the search coil cable around the pole, ensuring it is not too tight or loose, and plug the connector into the port on the control panel.
7. Insert Battery: Open the battery compartment on the control panel and insert the charged 24V IONMAX battery. Close the compartment securely.

Operation

Once assembled and powered on, your Sun Joe metal detector is ready for use. Familiarize yourself with the control panel and its functions.

Control Panel Functions:

• Power Button: Press to turn the detector ON/OFF.
• Sensitivity (SENS) Button: Adjusts the detector's sensitivity to targets. Higher sensitivity increases detection depth but may also increase false signals.
• Discrimination (DISC) / Notch: Allows you to eliminate unwanted metal types (e.g., iron) from detection. Use the arrow buttons to select and deselect target categories.

5. Identify Targets: When a target is detected, the detector will emit an audio tone, and the LCD display will show an icon indicating the probable metal type and an approximate depth.
6. Pinpoint: Once a target is identified, use the pinpoint function to locate its exact position before digging.
