3. Operating Instructions
Keyless Entry:
To unlock the door, simply enter your personalized user code on the keypad. The backlit keypad ensures visibility in low-light conditions. To lock the door, press the dedicated lock button at the top of the keypad.

Code Management:
The SmartCode 260 allows for flexible code management. You can create up to 50 unique user codes for family members and trusted guests. Additionally, 10 one-time user codes can be generated for temporary access, and a programming code allows you to easily add, edit, or delete user codes as needed.

Auto-Lock Feature:
For added security and peace of mind, the auto-lock feature can be enabled. This function automatically locks the deadbolt after a set period of time. You can customize the auto-lock interval to 30 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes, ensuring your door is always secured.

Vacation Mode:
When you are away from home for an extended period, activate Vacation Mode. This feature temporarily disables the keypad, preventing any code entries and ensuring no one can operate your door lock while you are out of town.
4. Maintenance
Battery Replacement:
The Kwikset SmartCode 260 operates on 4x AA alkaline batteries (not included). The lock is designed for a 12-month battery life, minimizing the frequency of replacements. When batteries are low, the lock will provide an indicator. Replace all four batteries simultaneously for optimal performance.

Microban Protection:
Kwikset's door hardware is treated with Microban, an antimicrobial technology. This offers powerful product protection that keeps the surface 99.9% cleaner than an unprotected surface, inhibiting the growth of bacteria.
5. Troubleshooting
Intrusion Alert:
The lock is equipped with an intrusion alert system. If 3 consecutive incorrect code entries are attempted, the lock will sound an alarm and disable the keypad for 1 minute. This feature is designed to deter unauthorized access and tampering.
