3. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to install your M.2 SSD into the enclosure:

  1. Open the Enclosure: Press the button on both sides of the enclosure and gently pull out the internal tray.
  2. Insert the M.2 SSD: Carefully align your M.2 SSD (NVMe M-Key or SATA B+M Key) with the slot on the internal tray and insert it firmly. Ensure the SSD is compatible with the enclosure (supports 2230, 2242, 2260, 2280 sizes).
  3. Secure the SSD: Use the provided rubber fastener to secure the SSD in place. For 2280 SSDs, the fastener can be inserted directly.
  4. Close the Enclosure: Slide the internal tray back into the aluminum alloy shell until it clicks securely into place.

4. Operating Instructions

After installing your SSD, connect the enclosure to your device using the provided USB-C to USB-C or USB-C to USB-A cable. The enclosure supports a wide range of operating systems.

4.1. Initializing a New SSD

IMPORTANT: A brand new SSD must be initialized and formatted before it can be detected and used by your computer. This is a standard procedure for all new storage devices and is not an issue with the enclosure itself.

4.2. Connecting to Devices

Connect the enclosure to your computer, smartphone (with OTG function), laptop (with Thunderbolt 3 port), smart TV, smart router, PS4, or other compatible devices. The enclosure offers high-speed data transfer:

  • Up to 10 Gbps for NVMe SSDs (USB 3.1 Gen 2)
  • Up to 6 Gbps for SATA SSDs

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Verilux SSD Enclosure:

  • Keep the enclosure clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or humidity.
  • Handle the enclosure with care to prevent physical damage.
  • The aluminum alloy shell is designed for efficient heat dissipation. Ensure adequate airflow around the device during prolonged use.

6. Troubleshooting

  • SSD Not Detected:
        a. Ensure the SSD is properly seated in the enclosure.
        b. For new SSDs, it is essential to initialize and format the disk through your operating system's Disk Management utility (refer to Section 4.1).
        c. Verify that the connected cable is functioning correctly and securely plugged into both the enclosure and your device.
  • Slow Transfer Speeds:
        a. Confirm that your device's USB port supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gbps) for optimal performance. Older USB 2.0 or 3.0 ports will result in lower speeds.
        b. Ensure you are using the provided high-speed USB-C cables.
        c. Check if your SSD is NVMe or SATA; NVMe SSDs offer higher speeds than SATA SSDs.
  • Enclosure Overheating:
        a. While the aluminum shell is designed for heat dissipation, prolonged heavy use can generate heat. Ensure the enclosure is in a well-ventilated area.
        b. If using a high-performance NVMe SSD, some heat is normal during intensive operations.
  • Compatibility Issues:
        a. Double-check that your M.2 SSD is either M-Key (NVMe) or B+M Key (SATA NGFF). The enclosure does not support B-Key only SSDs.
        b. For smartphone connections, ensure your phone supports the OTG (On-The-Go) function.
