1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your ALTO TS408 2000W 8" Powered PA Speaker. Please read these instructions thoroughly before operating the device and retain them for future reference.

The ALTO TS408 is a powerful 2000W active PA speaker featuring an 8-inch low-frequency driver and a 1.4-inch high-frequency driver. It includes a 3-channel mixer, Bluetooth streaming capabilities, wireless loudspeaker linking, and DSP control via the ALTO App.

2. Important Safety Information

Always follow basic safety precautions when using this product to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons. These include:

  • Read all instructions before using the product.

4. Setup

4.1 Physical Placement and Mounting

The TS408 speaker offers versatile placement options:

  • Freestanding: Place the speaker on a stable, flat surface.
  • Wedge Monitor: Position the speaker on its side for use as a floor monitor.
  • Pole-Mounted: Utilize the integrated pole-mount socket for elevated sound projection.
  • Flown Application: Use the M6 mounting points for suspended installations.

4.2 Connecting to Power and Audio Sources

Before connecting, ensure the speaker's power switch is in the OFF position.

  1. Connect the included power cable to the AC input on the rear panel of the TS408 and then to a grounded power outlet.
  2. Connect your audio sources (e.g., microphone, mixer, instrument) to the Input 1 or Input 2 XLR+1/4" (6.35 mm) TRS combo inputs on the rear panel.
  3. Use the Mic/Line switches to select the appropriate input level for each channel.
  4. If linking multiple speakers, connect an XLR cable from the Mix Out on the first speaker to an input on the next speaker.

4.3 Bluetooth Pairing

The TS408 features built-in Bluetooth connectivity for wireless audio streaming.

  1. Power on the TS408 speaker.
  2. On the rear panel, press and hold the PAIR button (under the Bluetooth section) for 3 seconds until the Bluetooth LED flashes.
  3. On your Bluetooth-enabled device (smartphone, tablet, laptop), open the Bluetooth settings and select "ALTO TS408" from the list of available devices.
  4. Once paired, the Bluetooth LED on the speaker will glow solid blue.

4.4 ALTO App Installation and Setup

The free ALTO App (available for iOS and Android) provides remote control over various speaker functions.

  1. Download the "ALTO App" from your device's app store (Apple App Store for iOS, Google Play Store for Android).
  2. Ensure your TS408 speaker is powered on and Bluetooth-paired with your device.
  3. Open the ALTO App. It should automatically detect and connect to your TS408 speaker.
  4. The app allows control over Bluetooth levels, Speaker Use Modes, Custom EQ, and Sub Size selection.

5. Operation

5.1 Basic Controls

The TS408 features an integrated 3-channel mixer:

  • Input 1 & Input 2: Adjust the volume for connected audio sources using the respective level knobs.
  • Bluetooth Volume: Control the volume of streamed Bluetooth audio.
  • Mix Out: Provides a mixed output of all channels for linking to other speakers or recording devices.

5.2 Speaker Use Modes (DSP Presets)

The TS408 includes 3 preset DSP "Speaker Use" modes to optimize sound for different applications. These can be selected via the rear panel or the ALTO App.

  • EQ Off: Disables all DSP processing.
  • Live: Optimized for live music performances.
  • DJ: Enhanced for DJ applications with boosted bass and treble.
  • Custom: Allows for a user-defined EQ setting via the ALTO App.

5.3 True Wireless Stereo Linking

For a stereo sound experience without cables between speakers, use the True Wireless Stereo (TWS) linking function:

  1. Ensure both TS408 speakers are powered on and not currently paired via Bluetooth to any device.
  2. On the rear panel of the first speaker, press and hold the LINK button for 3 seconds. The Link LED will flash.
  3. Repeat this step for the second speaker.
  4. Once linked, the Link LEDs on both speakers will glow solid. One speaker will act as the left channel, and the other as the right.
  5. Now, pair your Bluetooth device to the primary speaker (the one you initiated linking from). Audio will stream in stereo to both speakers.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your ALTO TS408 speaker, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the speaker. Do not use solvents, abrasive cleaners, or waxes.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the speaker in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings are not blocked to prevent overheating.
  • Power Cord: Regularly inspect the power cord for any signs of damage. If damaged, replace it with an approved cord.
