Setup Guide

1. Installing a 2.5-inch Drive

The iodd ST300 is compatible with 2.5-inch SATA HDDs or SSDs (up to 7mm thickness). Follow these steps to install your drive:

1. Gently slide open the enclosure cover.
2. Align your 2.5-inch SATA HDD/SSD with the internal connector.
3. Carefully push the drive into the connector until it is securely seated.
4. Close the enclosure cover, ensuring it clicks into place.

2. Connecting to Your Computer

Use the provided USB-C cable to connect the iodd ST300 to your computer. The device will be recognized as an external storage device.

3. Initializing and Formatting the Drive

Operating Instructions

1. Virtual ODD (Optical Disc Drive) Functionality

The iodd ST300 can emulate an optical disc drive, allowing you to boot from ISO files. This is particularly useful for operating system installations or recovery tasks.

1. Copy your desired ISO files to the root directory of the iodd ST300's internal drive.
2. Use the device's keypad and screen to navigate to the ISO file you wish to mount.
3. Select the ISO file to mount it. The device will then appear as a virtual ODD on your computer.

The iodd ST300 supports bootable virtual drives for various applications.

Bootable virtual drives are compatible with both UEFI and legacy systems.

2. Virtual HDD (Hard Disk Drive) Functionality

The device also supports mounting VHD (Virtual Hard Disk) files, allowing you to use virtual disk images as if they were physical drives. This is useful for testing environments or specialized software.

For creating and managing VHDs, it is recommended to use the iodd Admin Manager software, especially for fixed VHDs, as some users have reported fragmentation issues with Windows Disk Management.

3. Write Protect Blocker

Activate the write protect feature to prevent any data from being written to the internal drive. This is crucial when connecting to potentially infected systems or for forensic analysis.

4. Admin Manager and Multi-User Support

The iodd ST300 features an Admin Manager for advanced configuration, including password protection and user permissions. This allows for secure multi-user environments, where up to 5 users can have separate passwords and permissions for a single device.
