Keep Warm Function
After brewing, the coffee maker automatically enters a keep-warm phase, maintaining the coffee's temperature for a period of time (typically 30 minutes to 1 hour, refer to specific model details if available). After this period, the appliance will automatically shut off for safety and energy saving.
5. Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your coffee maker.
Daily Cleaning
- Always unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Remove the filter holder and permanent filter (if used). Discard used coffee grounds and rinse the filter holder and permanent filter under running water. They can also be washed in warm, soapy water.
- Wash the glass carafe and its lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Wipe the exterior surfaces of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Never immerse the main unit, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
Descaling
Mineral deposits from water can build up over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your coffee maker every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
- Prepare a descaling solution: Mix white vinegar and water in a 1:2 ratio (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water), or use a commercial descaling agent according to its instructions.
- Pour the descaling solution into the water reservoir up to the 'MAX' level.
- Place the empty glass carafe on the heating plate.
- Start a brewing cycle. Allow half of the solution to brew through, then turn off the coffee maker and let it stand for 15-20 minutes to allow the solution to work.
- Turn the coffee maker back on to complete the brewing cycle.
- Discard the solution from the carafe.
- Rinse the coffee maker by running at least two full cycles with fresh, cold water only. This removes any residual descaling solution.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your coffee maker, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Coffee does not brew. | No power, water reservoir empty, carafe not in place, auto-start programmed. | Check power connection. Fill water reservoir. Ensure carafe is correctly positioned. Check if auto-start is active and wait for programmed time or cancel. |
| Coffee is too weak. | Not enough coffee grounds, coffee too coarsely ground, descaling needed. | Increase amount of coffee grounds. Use finer ground coffee. Descale the appliance. |
| Coffee overflows from filter. | Too much coffee grounds, filter clogged, carafe removed during brewing. | Reduce amount of coffee grounds. Clean filter holder and permanent filter. Do not remove carafe during brewing. |
| Coffee tastes bad. | Old coffee grounds, appliance needs cleaning/descaling, poor water quality. | Use fresh coffee grounds. Clean and descale the coffee maker. Use filtered water. |
| Display shows incorrect time. | Power interruption. | Reset the clock as described in 'Setting the Clock' section. |
