Maintenance

- Empty Debris: Hold the dust cup over a trash bin and press the bottom release latch to open the bottom flap. Tap gently to empty contents.
- Clean Top (if necessary): If needed, press the top release latch to open the top flap and remove any accumulated debris or clean the screen.
- Reattach Dust Cup: Close both flaps securely and place the dust cup back onto the vacuum pod until it clicks.
Cleaning Filters
Regularly clean the filters to maintain optimal suction performance. The Shark LA401 uses Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology with HEPA filtration.
- Pre-Motor Filters (Foam & Felt): These should be rinsed every 3 months. Remove the dust cup, then pull out the foam and felt filters. Rinse with water until the water runs clear. Allow to air dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinstalling.
- Post-Motor HEPA Filter: This should be rinsed once a year. Remove the filter cover, then pull out the HEPA filter. Rinse with water until the water runs clear. Allow to air dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinstalling.
