Introduction

The ROCCAT Vulcan II Mini is a 65% optical-mechanical gaming keyboard designed for performance and durability. Its compact form factor provides ample desk space while retaining essential arrow keys. This manual provides instructions for setting up, operating, customizing, and maintaining your keyboard.

Setup

  1. Connect the Keyboard: Insert the USB-C end of the detachable cable into the port on the back of the keyboard. Connect the USB-A end of the cable to an available USB port on your PC.
  2. Driver Installation: Your operating system (Windows 10 or later recommended) should automatically detect and install the necessary drivers.
  3. Install ROCCAT Swarm Software: For full customization options, including RGB lighting, key reassignments, and profile management, download and install the ROCCAT Swarm software from the official ROCCAT website (www.roccat.com/pages/software).
  4. Adjust Keyboard Feet: Flip out the adjustable feet on the underside of the keyboard to achieve your preferred typing angle.

Operating Instructions

The Vulcan II Mini features TITAN II Optical Switches for ultra-fast actuation and a 65% form factor that balances compactness with functionality.

Basic Operation

  • Typing: Standard QWERTY layout.
  • Arrow Keys: Dedicated arrow keys are present for navigation.
  • Function Keys (F1-F12): Accessed by holding the Fn key and pressing the corresponding number row key.

Easy-Shift[+] Button Duplicator Technology

Unlock a second function layer for nearly limitless options. This feature allows you to assign secondary functions to keys, effectively doubling the keyboard's capabilities.

  • Activation: Enter game mode (often Fn + Page Down, refer to Swarm software for exact mapping) to access Easy-Shift[+].
  • Programming: Use the ROCCAT Swarm software to program secondary functions for individual keys.

Smart Keys

The keyboard features 30 multi-function smart keys with a dual LED indicator. These LEDs illuminate to show when secondary functions are active, providing clear visual feedback.

On-Board Profiles

Save up to 5 profiles directly on the keyboard. These profiles can store custom lighting, key reassignments, and other settings, allowing for convenient portability and quick switching between configurations without software.

  • Switching Profiles: Use the ROCCAT Swarm software to assign hotkeys for profile switching or manage them directly within the software.

Customization

AIMO RGB Illumination

The Vulcan II Mini features vibrant AIMO RGB lighting technology, producing smooth and dynamic lighting effects. This can sync with other compatible AIMO-enabled products for an immersive lighting display.

  • Software Control: Customize lighting effects, colors, and patterns using the ROCCAT Swarm software.
  • On-Board Control: Some basic lighting adjustments may be available via Fn key combinations (refer to Swarm software or quick start guide for specifics).

Keycap Compatibility

The TITAN II Optical Switches feature cross-shaped stems, making them compatible with many third-party keycaps. This allows for further personalization of your keyboard's aesthetic.

  • Removal: Gently pull keycaps upwards to remove. Use a keycap puller for easier and safer removal.
  • Installation: Align the new keycap with the switch stem and press down firmly until it clicks into place.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Keyboard:
    • Disconnect the keyboard from your PC before cleaning.
    • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe down the keycaps and chassis.
    • For dust and debris between keys, use compressed air.
    • Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive materials, or excessive moisture.
  • Cable Care: The detachable USB-C cable should be handled with care. Avoid sharp bends or excessive pulling to prevent damage.

Troubleshooting

  • Keyboard Not Responding:
    • Ensure the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and your PC.
    • Try connecting the keyboard to a different USB port on your PC.
    • Restart your computer.
    • Check if the ROCCAT Swarm software is running and updated.
  • RGB Lighting Not Working/Incorrect:
    • Verify that the ROCCAT Swarm software is installed and updated.
    • Check lighting settings within the Swarm software.
    • Ensure no conflicting software is controlling RGB lighting.
  • Keys Not Registering or Double-Typing:
    • Clean the affected key with compressed air to remove any debris.
    • Ensure the keycap is properly seated on the switch.
    • Update the keyboard firmware via ROCCAT Swarm.
  • Software Not Detecting Keyboard:
    • Reinstall the ROCCAT Swarm software.
    • Ensure your operating system is up to date.
    • Temporarily disable any antivirus or firewall software that might be interfering.
