Setup

Before operating your chainsaw, ensure proper assembly and preparation.

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all parts listed in the product overview are present.
2. Guide Bar and Chain Assembly:
   • Place the tensioner onto the guide bar.
   • Mount the guide bar and saw chain onto the chainsaw body. Ensure the chain is correctly oriented with cutting edges facing forward on the top of the bar.
   • Use the built-in tool-less tensioning ring to tighten the chain. The chain should be snug but still allow for slight movement when pulled away from the bar. Refer to the visual guide for proper tension.

3. Fill with Bar and Chain Oil:
   • Locate the oil reservoir cap on the chainsaw body.
   • Unscrew the cap and fill the reservoir with high-quality bar and chain oil.
   • Monitor the oil level through the oil level window to prevent running dry.
   • Securely replace the oil reservoir cap.
4. Power Connection: Connect the chainsaw's power cord to a suitable extension cord, ensuring the extension cord is rated for outdoor use and the chainsaw's amperage (15 Amp).

Operating Instructions

Always prioritize safety during operation. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and sturdy footwear.

• Starting the Chainsaw: Ensure the chain brake is disengaged. Press the safety lock-out button and then squeeze the trigger to start the motor. The chainsaw starts instantly.
• Cutting Technique:
  • Maintain a firm grip with both hands on the chainsaw handles.
  • Allow the chain to reach full speed before engaging the wood.
  • Apply steady, even pressure. Do not force the saw through the wood.
  • Be aware of kickback potential and avoid cutting with the tip of the guide bar.
• Automatic Oiler: The automatic oiler will lubricate the bar and chain during operation. Periodically check the oil level window to ensure sufficient oil supply.
• Chain Brake: The integrated chain brake provides added safety. In the event of kickback, the chain brake is designed to stop the chain quickly. Ensure it is functioning correctly before each use.
• Stopping the Chainsaw: Release the trigger to stop the motor. The chain will stop immediately. Engage the chain brake for added safety when not actively cutting.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your chainsaw.

• Chain Tensioning: Check chain tension frequently, especially during initial use. Adjust using the tool-less tensioning ring as needed. A properly tensioned chain should be snug but still movable.
• Chain Sharpening: The ControlCut chain is designed for smooth cutting and extended sharpness. If the chain becomes dull, it can be sharpened or replaced. Refer to Oregon's guidelines for sharpening specifications (3/8 Inch Pitch, .050 Inch Gauge).
• Oiling System: Keep the oil reservoir filled with appropriate bar and chain oil. Clean the oil port and guide bar groove regularly to ensure proper lubrication flow.
• Cleaning: After each use, disconnect the power and clean sawdust, chips, and debris from the motor housing, guide bar, and chain. Use a brush or compressed air.
