Introduction
Welcome to the world of aerial excitement with your new Sharper Image Thunderbolt Jet X-2 Stunt Drone. This lightweight, foam-designed quadcopter is engineered for both beginners and experienced pilots, offering features like auto-orientation flight control, gyro stabilization, and the ability to perform 360-degree stunts. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating your drone to ensure safe and optimal performance.
What's Included
- Thunderbolt Jet X-2 Drone
- Remote Control
- USB Charging Cable
- 4 Replacement Propellers

Setup
1. Remote Control Battery Installation
The remote control requires 4 AA batteries (not included). Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote, insert the batteries according to the polarity indicators, and close the compartment securely.
2. Drone Charging
The Thunderbolt Jet X-2 drone includes a built-in 3.7V 850 mAh rechargeable lithium battery. To charge, connect the included USB charging cable to the drone's charging port and then to a USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter). The charging indicator light will show the charging status. Allow sufficient time for a full charge before first use.
3. Pairing Process
To pair the drone with the remote control:
- Ensure both the drone and remote control are powered off.
- Place the drone on a flat, level surface.
- Power on the drone, then power on the remote control.
- Move the left joystick (throttle) all the way up, then all the way down. The indicator lights on the drone will stop flashing and become solid, indicating successful pairing.
Important Note: If your drone experiences a hard landing or exhibits instability/non-functioning propellers, power off both the drone and remote, then repeat the re-pairing process to recalibrate.
Operating Instructions
Basic Flight Controls
The remote control features intuitive joysticks for precise flight. The left joystick typically controls altitude (up/down) and yaw (rotation), while the right joystick controls forward/backward and left/right movement.
Key Features and Functions
- Auto-Orientation Flight Control: Simplifies control by maintaining the drone's orientation relative to the pilot, regardless of its actual heading.
- Gyro Stabilization Flight Control: Helps keep the drone steady and balanced during flight, enhancing stability and ease of control.
- Assisted Landing: Facilitates smoother and more controlled landings.
- 360-Degree Stunts: Press the dedicated stunt button on the remote and move the right joystick in any direction to perform impressive flips and rolls.
- 2.4 GHz Control: Provides a long-range wireless connection, allowing for a flight radius of up to 200 feet.
- Light-Up Body: The drone features built-in LED lights, making it visible and exciting to fly, even in low-light conditions.
- Lightweight Foam Design: The durable foam construction makes the drone resilient to minor impacts and suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

Flight Environment Considerations
Due to its lightweight foam design, the Thunderbolt Jet X-2 is suitable for both indoor and outdoor flight. However, when flying outdoors, be mindful of wind conditions. Even a slight breeze can affect the drone's stability and control. It is recommended to fly in calm conditions for the best experience.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Gently wipe the drone with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals or excessive moisture.
- Propeller Replacement: If a propeller becomes damaged, carefully remove it and replace it with one of the four included replacement propellers. Ensure the new propeller is securely attached.
- Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid overcharging or completely draining the drone's battery. Store the drone and remote in a cool, dry place when not in use.
Troubleshooting
- Drone unstable or propeller not functioning after hard landing: Power off both the drone and remote control. Then, follow the re-pairing process outlined in the 'Setup' section to recalibrate the drone.
- Short battery life: Ensure the drone's battery is fully charged before each flight. Flight time can vary based on usage and environmental factors.
- Difficulty flying outdoors in a breeze: The drone's lightweight design makes it susceptible to wind. For optimal control, fly in calm conditions or indoors.
