1. Introduction

The TopTes TS-501B is a precise and versatile sound level meter designed for accurate noise measurement in various environments. It features A/C weighting, MAX/MIN measurement, temperature and humidity display, and a clear backlit LCD screen. This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper use and maintenance of your device.

3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Slide the cover downwards to open the compartment.
  3. Insert three (3) AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover by sliding it upwards until it clicks into place.

3.2 Initial Power On

Press the power button (U) located on the front panel to turn on the device. The LCD screen will illuminate, and the device will be ready for use.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Basic Sound Level Measurement

Once powered on, the device will immediately begin measuring sound levels. The current decibel reading will be displayed prominently on the LCD screen.

4.2 A/C Weighting Selection

The TS-501B supports both A-weighting and C-weighting for different measurement needs:

To switch between A and C weighting, long press the C/F button for 2 seconds. The active weighting mode (A or C) will be indicated on the display.

4.3 MAX/MIN Measurement

To view the maximum or minimum sound level recorded during a measurement session:

  1. Press the MAX/MIN button once to display the maximum recorded value (MAX).
  2. Press the MAX/MIN button again to display the minimum recorded value (MIN).
  3. Press the MAX/MIN button a third time to return to real-time measurement.

4.4 Backlight Control

To activate or deactivate the LCD backlight for improved visibility in low-light conditions, long press the backlight button (*/) located on the front panel.

4.5 Temperature & Humidity Measurement

The TS-501B also displays ambient temperature and relative humidity on the LCD screen, alongside the sound level readings. The temperature can be switched between Celsius and Fahrenheit by short pressing the C/F button.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

To clean the device, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or strong chemicals, as these may damage the casing or internal components. Keep the microphone free from dust and debris.

5.2 Storage

When not in use for extended periods, store the TS-501B in its provided carry case in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove the batteries if storing for more than one month to prevent leakage.

5.3 Battery Replacement

A low battery indicator will appear on the screen when the battery level is low. Replace all three AAA batteries promptly to ensure accurate readings and continuous operation. Refer to section 3.1 for battery installation instructions.
