2.2 Device Layout

Familiarize yourself with the buttons and ports on your eReader:

  • Switch On/Off: Power button located on the top right side.
  • Menu Key: Accesses the main menu.
  • Search Key: Initiates search function.
  • Pause/Play: Controls multimedia playback.
  • Return Key: Navigates back to the previous screen or menu.
  • Directional Keys (Up, Down, Left, Right) & Confirm Key: Used for navigation and selection.
  • Next Page: Advances to the next page during reading.
  • External Horn: Speaker for audio output.
  • TF Card Slot: For inserting a microSD card to expand storage.
  • USB Port: For charging and data transfer.
  • Headphone Jack: For connecting headphones.

3. Setup

3.1 Charging the Device

Before first use, fully charge the eReader. Connect the included USB data cable to the eReader's USB port and the other end to a USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port. The charging indicator will show the charging status.

3.2 Power On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the 'Switch On/Off' button until the screen lights up.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the 'Switch On/Off' button until a power-off prompt appears, then confirm. A short press will put the device into sleep mode.

3.3 Initial Setup

Upon first power-on, you may be prompted to select your preferred language and set the date and time. Follow the on-screen instructions using the directional and confirm keys.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Navigation

Use the directional keys to move through menu options and the 'Confirm' key to select. The 'Return' key will take you back to the previous screen.

4.2 Reading eBooks

  1. From the main menu, select 'Library' or 'File Explorer' to browse your stored books.
  2. Navigate to the desired book file (e.g., EPUB, PDF, TXT) and press 'Confirm' to open it.
  3. Use the 'Next Page' button to turn pages.
  4. While reading, press the 'Menu' key to access reading options such as font size adjustment, bookmarks, or going to a specific page.

4.3 File Transfer

To transfer files (eBooks, music, videos, photos) to your eReader:

  1. Connect the eReader to your computer using the USB data cable.
  2. The eReader will appear as a removable disk drive on your computer.
  3. Drag and drop your desired files into the appropriate folders on the eReader (e.g., 'Books' for eBooks, 'Music' for audio files).
  4. Safely eject the eReader from your computer before disconnecting the USB cable.

5. File Management

5.1 Supported File Formats

The ASHATA HD eReader supports a wide range of file formats:

  • eBook Formats: EPUB, PDF, TXT, FB2
  • Audio Formats: MP3, WAV, AAC
  • Video Formats: FLV, MKV, MOV, RM, RMVB, VOB

5.2 Organizing Files

Use the 'File Explorer' option from the main menu to view, move, or delete files directly on the device. You can create folders to organize your content.

6. Multimedia Playback

Your eReader can also play music and videos, and display photos.

6.1 Music Playback

  1. Connect the included headphones to the headphone jack for private listening.
  2. Select 'Music' from the main menu.
  3. Browse and select your desired audio file.
  4. Use the 'Pause/Play' button and directional keys for playback control.

6.2 Video Playback

  1. Select 'Video' from the main menu.
  2. Browse and select your desired video file.
  3. Use the 'Pause/Play' button and directional keys for playback control.

6.3 Photo Viewing

  1. Select 'Photo' from the main menu.
  2. Browse and select your desired image file.
  3. Use directional keys to navigate between photos.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning the Device

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the screen and body of the eReader.
  • Do not use liquid cleaners, aerosols, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the device.

7.2 Battery Care

  • Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
  • Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.
  • Charge the device regularly, even if not in use, to maintain battery health.

7.3 Software Updates

Periodically check the manufacturer's website for any available software updates to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ASHATA HD eReader, refer to the following common solutions:

Poor audio qualityEnsure headphones are fully plugged in. Try a different pair of headphones. Check the audio file quality.
