Setup
1. Battery Installation
The DX51B jig saw is part of the CAT 1 FOR ALL 18V battery platform. Battery and charger are sold separately.
- Ensure the jig saw is switched off.
- Align the battery pack with the battery port on the tool.
- Slide the battery pack into the port until it clicks securely into place.
- To remove, press the battery release button and slide the battery pack out.

2. Blade Installation
The tool-free blade clamp accepts both U-Shank and T-Shank blades.
- Ensure the battery pack is removed from the tool.
- Lift the blade clamp lever located at the front of the tool.
- Insert the blade shank fully into the blade holder with the teeth facing forward.
- Release the blade clamp lever to secure the blade. Gently pull on the blade to ensure it is firmly seated.
3. Base Adjustment (Bevel)
The base can be adjusted for bevel cuts up to 45 degrees in either direction without tools.

- Ensure the battery pack is removed.
- Locate the red bevel adjustment lever beneath the tool.
- Pull the lever to release the base.
- Tilt the base to the desired angle (0-45°). Use the angle markings for reference.
- Push the lever back to lock the base securely in place.
4. Accessory Attachment
Attach the dust port adapter and parallel guide as needed for your application.
- Dust Port Adapter: Slide the dust port adapter onto the designated exhaust port at the rear of the tool. Connect a vacuum cleaner hose for dust extraction.
- Parallel Guide: Insert the parallel guide rod into the slots on the base of the jig saw. Adjust the guide to the desired cutting width and tighten the locking screw.
Operation
1. Powering On/Off
The jig saw is activated by a variable speed trigger.
- To start the tool, depress the trigger switch. The blade speed will increase as you press the trigger further.
- To stop the tool, release the trigger switch.
- For continuous operation, press the lock-on button while the trigger is depressed. To release, depress the trigger again.
2. Variable Speed Control
The variable speed trigger allows you to match the cutting speed to the material and blade type.
- Slower speeds are suitable for harder materials, intricate cuts, or starting a cut.
- Faster speeds are ideal for softer materials and straight cuts.
3. Orbital Action Settings
The 4-position orbital action lever controls the aggressiveness of the blade's stroke.

- Position 0 (No Orbital Action): For fine, precise cuts in wood, metal, and plastics.
- Positions 1-3 (Increasing Orbital Action): For faster, more aggressive cuts in wood and softer materials. Higher settings remove material more quickly but may result in a rougher cut.
4. Cutting Techniques
Always secure your workpiece with clamps before cutting. Ensure the blade is clear of the workpiece before starting the tool.

- Straight Cuts: Use the parallel guide for accurate straight cuts. Apply steady, even pressure.
- Curve Cuts: Use a narrower blade and a lower orbital setting. Guide the tool smoothly along the desired curve.
- Plunge Cuts: For internal cuts without a pilot hole, tilt the tool forward so the front of the base rests on the workpiece. Start the tool at full speed, then slowly lower the blade into the material.
