5. Setup Instructions
5.1 Initial Connection
- Unpack: Carefully remove the mixer from its packaging.
- Placement: Place the mixer on a stable, flat surface, ensuring adequate ventilation.
- Power Connection: Connect the provided power adapter to the mixer's power input and then to a suitable electrical outlet. Do not power on the unit yet.
5.2 Connecting Audio Devices
- Microphones: Connect XLR microphones to the XLR inputs on each channel. For condenser microphones, ensure 48V phantom power is enabled after connecting the microphone and before increasing the gain.
- Instruments/Line-Level Devices: Connect instruments (e.g., keyboards, guitars with preamps) or other line-level devices to the 1/4-inch LINE inputs on each channel.
- Output Devices: Connect your main speakers or amplifier to the RCA output connectors.
- Headphones: Connect headphones to the dedicated headphone jack for monitoring.
5.3 Powering On
Once all connections are secure, turn on the mixer's power switch. Observe the power indicator light.
6. Operating the Mixer
6.1 Channel Controls
- GAIN: Adjusts the input sensitivity for each channel. Start with the gain low and gradually increase it until the signal is strong without peaking (indicated by the PK! LED).
- EQ (Equalizer): Each channel features High (HF), Mid (MF), and Low (LF) frequency controls. Use these to shape the tone of each input source.
- AUX: Sends a portion of the channel signal to an auxiliary output, often used for monitor mixes or external effects.
- FX: Sends a portion of the channel signal to the built-in effects processor.
- PAN: Adjusts the stereo position of the channel signal (left to right).
- FADER: Controls the output level of each individual channel to the main mix.
- PFL (Pre-Fader Listen): Activates monitoring of the channel's signal in your headphones before it reaches the main fader. This is useful for checking individual input levels.
6.2 Main Section Controls
- MAIN FADER: Controls the overall output volume of the stereo mix.
- HEADPHONES: Adjusts the volume for the headphone output.
- EFFECTS SECTION: Controls for selecting and adjusting the parameters of the built-in reverb effects (DLY, REP).
- 48V PHANTOM POWER: A switch to enable/disable 48V phantom power for XLR inputs. Ensure all condenser microphones are connected before activating.
7. Connectivity Features
7.1 USB Playback
Insert a USB flash drive containing MP3 or other compatible audio files into the USB port. Use the built-in controls (play/pause, skip tracks) to manage playback. The mixer will automatically detect and play audio from the USB drive.
7.2 Bluetooth Connection
- Activate Bluetooth mode on the mixer (refer to the display or mode button).
- On your external device (e.g., smartphone, tablet), search for available Bluetooth devices.
- Select "WEYMIC Mixer" or a similar name from the list to pair.
- Once paired, you can stream audio wirelessly from your device to the mixer.
7.3 PC Connection for Recording
Connect the mixer to your computer via a USB cable. The mixer should be recognized as an audio input/output device. You can then use your preferred digital audio workstation (DAW) software to record the stereo mix from the mixer or play audio from your computer through the mixer.
8. Built-in Reverb Effects
The WEYMIC CK-160 features multiple built-in reverb effects to add depth and ambiance to your audio. Use the FX send controls on individual channels to route signal to the effects processor. The main effects section allows you to select different reverb types and adjust parameters such as Delay (DLY) and Repeat (REP) to achieve the desired sound.
9. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Regularly wipe the mixer's surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes.
- Dust: Keep the mixer free from dust. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean around faders and knobs. The sealed rotary controls are designed to resist dust and grime.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the mixer in a cool, dry place, protected from extreme temperatures and humidity.
- Cable Management: Ensure cables are neatly organized and not under strain to prevent damage to connectors and ports.
10. Troubleshooting
- No Sound Output:
- Check all power connections and ensure the mixer is turned on.
- Verify that main faders and individual channel faders are raised.
- Ensure output cables are correctly connected to speakers/amplifier and that these devices are powered on and functioning.
- Check input source connections and ensure their volume is adequate.
- If using phantom power, ensure it is activated for condenser microphones.
- Distorted Sound:
- Reduce the GAIN control on the input channel. The PK! (Peak) LED should not be constantly lit.
- Lower the volume of the input source.
- Check for damaged cables or faulty connections.
- Bluetooth Connection Issues:
- Ensure the mixer is in Bluetooth pairing mode.
- Make sure your device's Bluetooth is enabled and it is within range.
- Try unpairing and re-pairing the device.
- USB Playback Not Working:
- Ensure the USB drive is formatted correctly and contains compatible audio files.
- Try a different USB drive.
- Ensure the USB drive is fully inserted into the port.
- Phantom Power LED Stays On:
- This behavior may be normal for some units due to capacitor discharge. Ensure the switch functions correctly to enable/disable power to the inputs.
