1. Micro SD Card Installation

The KAWA Dash Cam D6 requires a Micro SD memory card (not included) for storing recorded videos. It supports cards up to 256GB. For optimal performance and to prevent issues like system crashes or video frame drops, it is essential to use a reputable brand's high-speed CLASS 10 or higher Micro SD card.

  • Insert the Micro SD card into the designated slot on the dash cam until it clicks into place.
  • It is recommended to format the Micro SD card within the dash cam settings upon first use and periodically thereafter to ensure stable recording.

The dash cam supports voice commands for convenient operation, allowing you to keep your hands on the wheel and focus on driving.

  • "Take photo": Captures a still image.
  • "Lock the video": Saves the current recording as an emergency video, preventing it from being overwritten.
  • "Turn on audio" / "Turn off audio": Controls audio recording.
  • "Turn on WiFi" / "Turn off WiFi": Manages Wi-Fi connectivity.

2. Loop Recording

The dash cam continuously records video in 1/2/3 minute segments. When the Micro SD card is full, the oldest video files (excluding emergency recordings) will be automatically overwritten to ensure continuous recording.

3. Emergency Recording (3D-Sensor)

Equipped with a smart 3D-sensor, the dash cam automatically detects sudden shocks or collisions. When an event occurs, it will automatically start to record and lock the video. These emergency videos are stored in a separate folder and will not be overwritten by regular loop recording, providing crucial evidence.

4. 24-Hour Parking Monitoring

For continuous protection, the D6 dash cam offers 24-hour parking monitoring. This feature utilizes time-lapse recording and the collision sensor to provide surveillance even when your vehicle is parked.

Note: This feature requires a separate parking monitoring cable (ASIN: B0BKPKV72H), which is sold separately and not included in the standard package.

5. Starlight Color Night Vision

The D6 dash cam features industry-leading Starlight Color Night Vision, enabled by a 6 Full HD spherical glass lens and a high-performance sensor. This technology enhances detail extraction and brightness comprehension, allowing for clear images and videos, including visible license plates, even in low-light conditions at night without auxiliary light sources.

6. 2K 1440P Resolution

The KAWA Dash Cam D6 records in super-high 2K 1440P resolution at 30 frames per second, providing twice the clarity of most 1080P dash cams. This allows for capturing fine details such as license plates, road signs, and pedestrians with superior sharpness.

7. Wide Dynamic Range (WDR)

The WDR technology automatically supplements light in low-light conditions and suppresses overexposure in strong light and backlight scenarios. This ensures clarity in various lighting environments, including sunny, cloudy, and dimly lit nights, providing balanced and detailed video footage.

8. H.265 Video Format

The D6 dash cam utilizes H.265 (High Efficiency Video Coding, HEVC) for video encoding. This offers faster transmission efficiency and higher image quality compared to H.264, effectively doubling compression and saving approximately 50% of storage space. Ensure your video player supports the H.265 format for playback.

9. Super Capacitor

The KAWA D6 Dash Cam is powered by a Super Capacitor instead of a traditional lithium-ion battery. This design choice offers several advantages:

  • Ultra Durability & Longer Product Life: Super capacitors have a much longer lifespan and are more durable than batteries.
  • Fire and Explosion Proof: Provides enhanced safety by eliminating the risk of battery-related fires or explosions, especially in extreme temperatures.
  • Withstands Higher Heat & Cold Temperatures: Operates reliably in a wider range of temperatures, from -4°F (-20°C) to 149°F (65°C) for working temperature, and -22°F (-30°C) to 176°F (80°C) for storage temperature.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your KAWA Dash Cam D6.

  • Micro SD Card Formatting: Periodically format the Micro SD card (e.g., once a month) through the dash cam's settings or the KAWA App. This helps prevent data corruption and ensures smooth loop recording.
  • Lens Cleaning: Gently clean the camera lens with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove dust or smudges that could affect video clarity.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the KAWA App or official website for any available firmware updates. Keeping the firmware updated can improve performance and add new features.
  • Cable Inspection: Regularly inspect the power cord and connections for any signs of wear or damage.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KAWA Dash Cam D6, please refer to the following common solutions:

  • Dash Cam Not Powering On:
    • Ensure the car charger is securely plugged into the cigarette lighter socket and the power cord is firmly connected to the dash cam.
    • Check your vehicle's cigarette lighter fuse.
  • App Connection Issues (Wi-Fi):
    • Make sure Wi-Fi is enabled on the dash cam (can be done via voice command).
    • Ensure your smartphone is connected to the dash cam's Wi-Fi network, not your home Wi-Fi or mobile data.
    • Restart both the dash cam and your smartphone.
    • If using an Android tablet, some users have reported connectivity issues; try connecting with a smartphone.
  • Poor Video Quality / Unreadable License Plates:
    • Clean the camera lens.
    • Ensure the protective film has been removed from the lens.
    • Verify that the dash cam is recording in 1440P resolution via the app settings.
    • Check if the WDR feature is enabled for better exposure balance.
  • Micro SD Card Errors / Recording Stops:
    • Ensure you are using a CLASS 10 or higher Micro SD card from a reputable brand.
    • Format the Micro SD card regularly within the dash cam.
    • The card may be full; loop recording should manage this, but ensure emergency videos are not filling up the card excessively.
    • Try a different Micro SD card to rule out card malfunction.
  • USB Port Fragility:
    • Handle the USB connection with care to avoid damaging the port.
    • Ensure the cable is inserted and removed gently and directly.

If the issue persists, please contact KAWA customer support for further assistance.
