Installation of the Midea IM1900MD Ice Maker Kit is designed to be straightforward. However, if you are unsure about any step, it is recommended to consult a qualified technician.
5.1 Before You Begin
- Disconnect Power: Unplug the refrigerator from the electrical outlet.
- Turn Off Water Supply: If your refrigerator is connected to a water line, turn off the main water supply valve.
- Clear Freezer Compartment: Remove all food items and shelves from the freezer compartment to allow clear access to the ice maker installation area.
- Locate Pre-drilled Holes: Identify the pre-drilled holes and electrical connection point for the ice maker in your freezer compartment. These are typically on the upper left or right side wall.
5.2 Installation Steps
- Mount the Ice Maker:
- Align the ice maker assembly with the pre-drilled holes in the freezer wall.
- Secure the ice maker using the provided screws and brackets. Ensure it is firmly attached and level.
- Connect Electrical Wiring:
- Locate the electrical connector for the ice maker in the freezer compartment.
- Carefully plug the ice maker's electrical harness into the refrigerator's connector. Ensure a secure and snug fit.
- Install Water Fill Tube:
- Attach the water fill tube to the designated inlet on the ice maker.
- Route the other end of the water fill tube to the water supply connection point in the refrigerator, typically at the back.
- Secure the water fill tube using any provided clips or fasteners to prevent kinks or dislodgement.
- Place Ice Storage Bin:
- Slide the ice storage bin into position directly beneath the ice maker assembly. Ensure it is properly seated to catch ice.
- Connect Water Supply (if applicable):
- If your refrigerator requires an external water line connection for the ice maker, connect it according to your refrigerator's manual. Use the provided water line connectors and ensure no leaks.
- Restore Power and Water:
- Turn on the main water supply valve.
- Plug the refrigerator back into the electrical outlet.
Note: It may take 24 to 48 hours for the ice maker to produce its first batch of ice, as the system needs to cool down and fill with water. Discard the first few batches of ice to ensure cleanliness.
6. Operating Instructions
Once installed and connected, the Midea IM1900MD Ice Maker operates automatically.
6.1 Ice Production
- The ice maker will automatically fill with water, freeze it, and then eject the ice cubes into the storage bin.
- The ice maker is equipped with a shut-off arm or sensor that will stop ice production when the ice bin is full. When ice is removed, production will resume.
6.2 Adjusting Ice Production (if applicable)
This model typically does not have user-adjustable settings for ice production rate. Production is dependent on freezer temperature and water supply.
6.3 Turning Off the Ice Maker
To temporarily stop ice production, lift the shut-off arm to the UP (off) position. To resume, lower the arm to the DOWN (on) position.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of your ice maker.
7.1 Cleaning the Ice Bin
- Remove the ice storage bin from the freezer.
