Installation Instructions

Follow these steps carefully to replace the washer suspension rod(s). It is recommended to replace all suspension rods simultaneously for balanced performance.

  1. Prepare the Washer: Disconnect the washing machine from its power source and turn off the water supply. Pull the washer away from the wall to allow access to the rear.
  2. Access the Top Panel: Locate and remove the three screws at the back of the washer's top panel. Gently pull the top panel forward, then lift it slightly and push it back to release the front clips. This will allow the top panel to hinge open.
  3. Support the Washer Drum: To relieve weight from the suspension rods, carefully tilt the washer onto its side. Place sturdy wooden blocks (e.g., 2x4s) underneath the washer's pulley mechanism to support the drum. This makes removing and installing the rods significantly easier.
  4. Remove Old Suspension Rods: With the drum supported, reach inside the washer and locate the top of a suspension rod. Unhook the old rod from its mounting point on the washer frame. From underneath, pull the rod out. Repeat for all old rods.
  5. Install New Suspension Rods: Insert a new suspension rod through the hole in the washer base from underneath. Guide the top end of the rod into its corresponding mounting point on the washer frame. Ensure it is securely hooked. Repeat for all new rods.
  6. Lubricate (Optional): Apply a small amount of white lithium grease to the plastic pieces where the rods connect to the washer frame. This can reduce friction and noise. Be careful not to over-lubricate.
  7. Reassemble the Washer: Carefully remove the wooden blocks and lower the washer back onto its feet. Close the top panel, ensuring the front clips engage, then push it back into place. Reinstall the three screws at the rear of the top panel. Reconnect the water supply and power.
  8. Recalibrate the Washer: To reset the washer's computer board and ensure proper balance, perform a recalibration cycle. Turn the cycle selection knob three times to the left, then one time to the right, then one time to the left, and finally one time to the right. Turn the knob to the 'Rinse' setting and press 'Start'. Allow the cycle to complete (approximately 5 minutes).

Maintenance

Regular maintenance can help prevent premature wear of your washer's suspension system:

  • Balance Loads: Always distribute laundry evenly in the washer tub to prevent excessive imbalance during spin cycles.
  • Avoid Overloading: Do not overload the washing machine, as this puts undue stress on the suspension rods.
  • Inspect Periodically: If you notice increased noise or vibration, inspect the suspension rods for signs of wear, bending, or damage.
