3. Setup and Installation
Connecting the G-Drive:
- Ensure your computer system is fully loaded and ready for hardware and software installation.
- Connect the G-DRIVE to your computer via the USB-C Type-C port using the supplied USB-C to USB-C cable.
- Connect the power cable to the unit and plug the other end into a surge protector or wall outlet.
- Press the power button on the back of the drive. The drive will automatically mount on the desktop if you are running macOS.
Initializing G-Drive for Mac:
The G-DRIVE is factory-formatted for use or 'initialized' for macOS. If you need to re-initialize it quickly or erase the contents, follow these steps:
- Open the Disk Utility program located on your hard drive under Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility. The window below will appear.
- Your G-DRIVE will be displayed in the left-hand column. Information about the drive will be displayed at the bottom of the window.
- Select the Erase tab to view the formatting options. By default, the product is formatted as APFS.
- Choose the Format option that you prefer.
- Click the Erase button in the lower right corner of the window. A dialog box will appear asking if you want to erase the G-DRIVE partition.
- Click the Erase button to continue. A progress bar in the lower right corner of the window will show the progress of the disk reformatting.
- After the drive is re-initialized, you should automatically see the Time Machine dialog box.
- Click the Use as Backup Disk button if you want to use the drive with Time Machine.
- Click the Don't Use or Decide Later button if you do not want to use Time Machine at this point.
Reformatting for Windows:
The G-DRIVE is set up at the factory for use with macOS systems. To use it with Windows, you will need to reformat the drive. Consult your Windows operating system documentation for detailed instructions on how to format an external drive.

4. Operating Instructions
Adjusting LED Brightness:
The G-DRIVE features an LED indicator light on the back that shows the drive's status. You can adjust its brightness or turn it off using the dedicated LED button located next to the power port. Choose between three modes: off, default, and bright.
