3. Setup Guide
Follow these steps to set up your ASUS ZenWiFi Pro AX11000 (XT12) mesh system:
- Placement: Place your ZenWiFi Pro XT12 units in central locations within your home to maximize coverage. For optimal mesh performance, ensure there are no significant physical obstructions between the units.
- Connect the Main Router:
- Connect the power adapter to one of the XT12 units and plug it into a power outlet.
- Connect one end of the RJ-45 cable to the WAN port (often labeled with an internet icon) on the main XT12 unit.
- Connect the other end of the RJ-45 cable to your modem or existing internet gateway.
- Connect Satellite Node:
- Place the second XT12 unit (satellite node) in another area of your home where you need extended Wi-Fi coverage.
- Connect the power adapter to the satellite unit and plug it into a power outlet. The units will automatically attempt to establish a mesh connection.
- Initial Configuration via ASUS Router App:
Download the ASUS Router app from your mobile device's app store. The app provides a guided 3-step setup process for easy installation and management.

- Open the ASUS Router app and follow the on-screen instructions to detect and configure your ZenWiFi system.
- Create your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password when prompted.

- Firmware Update: Ensure both your main router and satellite node have the latest firmware installed.
- Relocation: Try moving the satellite node closer to the main router to improve the backhaul connection.
- DFS Channels: If experiencing frequent disconnects, consider disabling DFS (Dynamic Frequency Selection) channels in the router settings, as these can sometimes cause instability in certain environments.
- Reboot: A simple reboot of the satellite node can often resolve temporary connection issues.
