Setup
- Unfold the Gameboard: Place the gameboard in the center of the playing area.
- Separate Cards: Separate the Title Deed cards, Cerebro cards, and Hellfire Club cards. Shuffle the Cerebro and Hellfire Club cards and place them face down on their designated spaces on the board.
- Place Money and Cassette Tapes: Organize the money into a bank. Place the Cassette Tapes near the board.
- Choose Tokens: Each player selects one of the 6 unique tokens and places it on the 'GO' space.
- Select a Banker: One player is chosen to be the Banker. The Banker is responsible for managing the bank's money, Title Deeds, Cassette Tapes, and collecting fines/taxes.
- Distribute Starting Money: The Banker gives each player $1500 in the following denominations: two $500s, four $100s, one $50, one $20, two $10s, one $5, and five $1s.
- Prepare Vecna's Grandfather Clock: Place the Grandfather Clock Spinner on its designated space.

Operating: How to Play
The objective of the game is to acquire properties, collect rent, and drive opponents into bankruptcy, or ensure Vecna does not open enough Gates to turn all locations into the Upside Down.
Gameplay Overview
- Starting the Game: The player who rolls the highest number on the dice goes first. Play proceeds clockwise.
- Movement: On your turn, roll both dice and move your token clockwise around the board the corresponding number of spaces.
- Landing on Spaces: The action you take depends on the space you land on:
- Unowned Locations: You may buy the location (property) for the price listed on the board. If you decline, the Banker auctions it to the highest bidder.
- Owned Locations: If another player owns the location, you must pay them rent. The rent amount is listed on their Title Deed card.
- Cerebro or Hellfire Club: Draw the top card from the respective pile and follow its instructions.
- Vecna's Grandfather Clock: If you roll the clock symbol on one of the dice, you must spin the Grandfather Clock to determine where danger is lurking. This can affect properties and gameplay.
- Go to Jail: Move your token directly to Jail. You do not collect $200 for passing GO.
- Free Parking, Just Visiting, GO: These spaces have specific rules as in classic Monopoly.
- Cassette Tapes: Instead of houses and hotels, players add Cassette Tapes to their owned locations to increase rent.
- Trading and Selling: Players can trade properties, Cassette Tapes, and money with other players at any time.
- Bankruptcy: If you owe more money than you can pay, you are bankrupt and out of the game.
Winning the Game
The game ends in one of two ways:
- Last Player Standing: The last player remaining after all others have gone bankrupt wins.
- Vecna's Victory: If Vecna opens enough Gates (as determined by the Grandfather Clock spinner) so that every location is in the Upside Down, all players lose.
