Setup

Initial Activation

Upon first use, the Osmo Action 3 allows five skips of the activation process for immediate product experience. After these skips are used, the camera must be connected to the DJI Mimo app for full activation. Ensure your mobile device is compatible with the DJI Mimo app. If you encounter compatibility issues, please download the latest version of DJI Mimo from the official DJI website, as it may not be available on Google Play due to platform compatibility.

MicroSD Card Insertion

The DJI Osmo Action 3 does not include onboard storage. A microSD card is required for recording. Insert a compatible microSD card into the designated slot before use. It is recommended to use a high-speed microSD card (e.g., SanDisk Extreme PRO) for optimal 4K video recording performance. After insertion, format the microSD card via the camera's settings menu.

Battery Installation and Charging

Insert the Osmo Action Extreme Battery into the camera or the multifunctional battery case. The battery case can charge up to three batteries simultaneously. Ensure batteries are fully charged before extended use. The camera supports fast charging.

Protective Frame and Mounts

Attach the Osmo Action 3 Horizontal-Vertical Protective Frame to the camera. This frame allows for quick-release mounting in both horizontal and vertical orientations. Utilize the Osmo Action Quick-Release Adapter Mounts and Osmo Flat Adhesive Base for secure attachment to various surfaces and gear.

Operating

Basic Operation

The Osmo Action 3 features dual touchscreens for intuitive control. The front screen is ideal for vlogging and selfies, while the rear screen provides full access to settings and playback. The camera powers on quickly and can begin recording almost instantly by pressing the record button.

Video Recording

Record 4K HDR video with 10-bit color depth for high-quality footage. The 120fps high frame rate is available for 1080p, 2.7K 16:9, and 4K 16:9 video specifications. Utilize HorizonSteady for stable and level shots during dynamic movements. For long-duration underwater shooting or in high-pressure environments, it is recommended to use a waterproof case, although the camera itself is waterproof down to 16 meters.

Audio Recording

The camera supports 48 kHz AAC audio. For enhanced audio quality, external microphones can be seamlessly linked. DJI Mic accessories are designed for direct compatibility without additional mods.

Maintenance

General Care

To prevent damage, avoid striking, crushing, or dropping the product. Before use, ensure the battery compartment cover and the USB-C port cover are securely closed, and the Lens Protective Cover is tightened. Do not use the camera in hot springs or expose it to corrosive liquids.

Battery Longevity

While the Osmo Action 3 batteries offer extended life, continuous recording of high-resolution, high-frame-rate footage can lead to overheating. In such cases, the device may automatically shut down. Allow the camera to cool down to resume normal operation. For optimal battery performance, especially in extreme heat, consider using lower frame rates or resolutions.

Troubleshooting

Overheating Issues

The DJI Osmo Action 3 may overheat during prolonged recording of high-resolution (e.g., 4K) and high-frame-rate (e.g., 120fps) video, especially in direct sunlight or high ambient temperatures. If overheating occurs, the camera will automatically stop recording to prevent damage. Allow the camera to cool down before resuming use. Using the camera underwater can provide additional cooling and extend recording times.

App Compatibility

Some mobile devices may experience compatibility issues with the DJI Mimo app. If you are unable to install or use the app, please visit the official DJI website to download the latest version directly. This can resolve issues related to platform compatibility or outdated app versions.
