5. Setup Guide

5.1 Initial Installation

  1. Screw the Refoss Smart Bulb into a standard E26 light socket.
  2. Turn on the power to the light fixture. The bulb should light up.

5.2 Connecting to Wi-Fi and App

The Refoss Smart Bulbs require a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network for initial setup and operation. Ensure your smartphone is connected to the 2.4GHz band of your Wi-Fi network during the setup process.

  1. Download the Refoss App: Search for "Refoss" in your device's app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store) and install it.
  2. Create an Account: Open the Refoss app and follow the on-screen instructions to create a new account or log in.
  3. Add Device: In the Refoss app, tap the "+" icon to add a new device. Select "Smart Bulb" from the list.
  4. Pairing Mode: If the bulb is not flashing, you may need to reset it to enter pairing mode. To reset, turn the light bulb ON/OFF 5 times within 5 seconds, then leave it OFF for 5 seconds. The bulb will flash to indicate it's in pairing mode.
  5. Connect: Follow the app's instructions to connect the bulb to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. This usually involves selecting your Wi-Fi network and entering the password.

5.3 Apple HomeKit Integration

For Apple HomeKit users, you can add the Refoss Smart Bulb directly to the Apple Home app:

  1. Ensure your iPhone/iPad is connected to the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network as the bulb.
  2. Open the Apple Home app.
  3. Tap the "+" icon and select "Add Accessory".
  4. Scan the HomeKit code located on the bulb or its packaging.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to assign the bulb to a room and name it.

To control your HomeKit accessories remotely, set up a HomePod, HomePod mini, or Apple TV as a home hub. A home hub is NOT needed for the Refoss app to control devices remotely.

6.1 Voice Control

Once connected to Apple HomeKit, Alexa, or Google Home, you can use voice commands to control your Refoss Smart Bulbs:
