3. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and ensure all components are present.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Wash the water tank, portafilter, and drip tray with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
  3. Fill Water Tank: Remove the detachable water tank from the back of the machine. Fill it with fresh, cold water up to the MAX level. Replace the tank securely.
  4. First Use (Priming):
    • Plug the appliance into a grounded power outlet.
    • Place a cup under the brewing head.
    • Press the Power button (usually indicated by a power symbol) to turn on the machine. The indicator light will illuminate.
    • Wait for the machine to heat up (indicator light will stop flashing or turn solid).
    • Press the Espresso button (cup symbol) and let water run through until the tank is about half empty. This primes the pump and flushes any manufacturing residue.
    • Turn the machine off, empty the cup, and refill the water tank.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Making Espresso

  1. Prepare Portafilter: Insert the desired filter (single or double shot) into the portafilter. Add finely ground espresso coffee. For a single shot, use approximately 7g; for a double shot, use 14g. Tamp the coffee evenly with a tamper (not included).
  2. Attach Portafilter: Align the portafilter with the brewing head and twist it firmly to the right until it locks into place.
  3. Place Cup: Place one or two espresso cups on the drip tray, directly under the portafilter spouts.
  4. Brew Espresso: Ensure the machine is powered on and heated (indicator light solid). Press the Espresso button (cup symbol). The machine will start brewing.
  5. Stop Brewing: The machine may stop automatically, or you can press the Espresso button again to stop brewing when the desired volume is reached.
  6. Remove Portafilter: Carefully twist the portafilter to the left to unlock and remove it. Dispose of the used coffee grounds.

4.2 Frothing Milk (Steam Function)

  1. Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to about one-third full.
  2. Activate Steam: Press the Steam button (steam symbol) on the control panel. Wait for the steam indicator light to turn solid, indicating the machine has reached steaming temperature.
  3. Purge Steam Wand: Position the steam wand over the drip tray and briefly turn the Steam Control Knob to release any condensed water. Turn the knob off.
  4. Froth Milk: Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk. Turn the Steam Control Knob to release steam. Move the pitcher up and down gently to create foam.
  5. Stop Steaming: Once the milk reaches the desired temperature and texture, turn the Steam Control Knob off, then press the Steam button to deactivate the steam function.
  6. Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Briefly purge steam again to clear any internal blockages.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of your espresso maker.

5.1 Daily Cleaning

5.2 Descaling

Descaling is essential to remove mineral buildup and should be performed every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.

  1. Prepare Descaling Solution: Mix a descaling solution (e.g., citric acid or commercial descaler) with water according to the product instructions. Fill the water tank with this solution.
  2. Run Solution: Place a large container under the brewing head and steam wand. Turn on the machine and let it heat up. Run about half of the descaling solution through the brewing head by pressing the Espresso button. Then, open the Steam Control Knob and let the remaining solution run through the steam wand.
  3. Rinse: After the tank is empty, turn off the machine. Fill the water tank with fresh, clean water. Repeat the process of running water through both the brewing head and steam wand to thoroughly rinse the system. Repeat rinsing with fresh water 2-3 times.
