5. Setup
5.1. Installation
The Tongou Smart WiFi Switch is designed for DIN rail mounting. Follow these steps for safe installation:
- Disconnect Power: Before starting any electrical work, ensure the main power supply to the circuit is turned off at the circuit breaker. Verify with a voltage tester.
- Mount the Switch: Clip the smart switch onto a standard DIN rail within your electrical panel.
- Wiring: Connect the live (L) and neutral (N) wires to the designated terminals on the switch. The switch is a 1P (single pole) device, meaning it switches only the phase (live) wire. It requires a permanent neutral connection. This device should be installed after a differential switch for proper protection against short circuits, overloads, and leakage. Use a screwdriver to easily tighten and loosen the screw terminals.
Figure 5.1: Wiring diagram for the Tongou Smart WiFi DIN Rail Switch. Connect the phase (L) and neutral (N) wires as indicated. This switch is for single-phase systems and handles up to 16 Amps. It should be installed after a differential switch for safety.
Note: This switch is ideal for AC loads such as water heaters, incandescent lamps, and heaters.
5.2. App Pairing
To control the switch remotely, you need to pair it with the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app.
- Download the App: Download the "Smart Life" or "Tuya Smart" app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Register/Log In: Open the app and register for a new account or log in if you already have one.
- Add Device: Ensure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Power on the smart switch. The Wi-Fi indicator on the switch should be blinking rapidly (refer to the switch's LED indicator guide for pairing mode). In the app, tap "+" or "Add Device" and select the appropriate device type (e.g., "Switch (Wi-Fi)").
- Confirm Pairing Mode: Confirm the indicator light is blinking rapidly in the app.
- Enter Wi-Fi Details: Enter your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network password.
- Connect: The app will begin connecting to the device. Once connected, you can rename the switch and assign it to a room.
