2. Setup and Installation

2.1 Pre-Installation Checklist

  • Verify all components listed in "What's in the Box" are present.
  • Read these instructions completely before beginning installation.
  • Consult your vehicle's owner's manual for specific roof load capacity and any restrictions regarding roof rack installation. Do not exceed your vehicle's maximum roof load capacity or the rack's maximum load capacity of 220 lbs (100 kg), whichever is lower.
  • Ensure the vehicle's elevated rails are clean and free from debris.

2.2 Installation Steps

  1. Assemble the Bars and Feet: Attach the four feet to the two steel bars. Ensure they are securely fastened according to the included tool's instructions.
  2. Position the Rack: Carefully place the assembled rack onto your vehicle's elevated rails. Adjust the feet to align with the rails, ensuring an even distribution and proper fit.
  3. Secure the Rack: Use the provided tool to tighten the locking mechanism on each foot. Ensure all four feet are firmly clamped onto the elevated rails. The rack should not move when tested by hand.
  4. Lock the Rack: Utilize the integrated locking mechanism on each foot to secure the rack to your vehicle, preventing unauthorized removal.
  5. Final Check: Before driving, double-check all connections and ensure the rack is securely mounted. Periodically check the tightness of the rack during long journeys.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Loading Cargo

  • Always distribute the load evenly across the roof rack.
  • Secure all cargo firmly using appropriate tie-downs, straps, or Thule accessories. Ensure there is no movement of the cargo during transit.
  • Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 220 lbs (100 kg) for the rack or your vehicle's roof, whichever is less.
  • Be aware of the increased height and width of your vehicle when the rack is loaded, especially when entering garages, car washes, or low-clearance areas.

3.2 Driving with a Roof Rack

  • Adjust your driving style to account for the added weight and wind resistance. This includes reducing speed, especially in crosswinds, and increasing braking distance.
  • Avoid sudden maneuvers, sharp turns, or aggressive braking.
  • Check the security of the rack and cargo frequently during long trips.

4. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the roof rack regularly with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect all components for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Check bolts, clamps, and locking mechanisms for tightness and proper function.
  • Lubrication: Lightly lubricate moving parts and locking mechanisms as needed to ensure smooth operation.
  • Storage: If removing the rack for extended periods, store it in a dry, clean place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Winter Care: In winter conditions, ensure ice and snow do not accumulate on the rack, as this can add significant weight and affect performance.

5. Troubleshooting
