The support roller is an essential component of a cantilever gate system, providing the necessary support and guidance for the gate to slide smoothly without touching the ground. It works in conjunction with an L-track, which is typically sold separately.

4. Installation Guide

Proper installation is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of your cantilever sliding gate. Follow these steps carefully.

4.1. Pre-Installation Checks

  • Ensure the gate opening and surrounding area are clear of obstructions.
  • Verify that the foundation for the support rollers is level and capable of supporting the gate's weight. Refer to the load calculation diagram for guidance.

4.2. Step-by-Step Installation

The following video demonstrates the installation process for the cantilever gate support rollers.

Video 4.1: Installation guide for the BENINCA HI-MOTIONS Cantilever Sliding Gate Support Roller. This video demonstrates the alignment and securing process for the carriages and track.

  1. Position the Carriages: Place the washers and carriages (support rollers) on the prepared foundation. The plates of the carriages have slotted holes, which allow for initial alignment.
  2. Secure Loosely: Place the washers and nuts onto the bolts. WARNING: Do not fix the nuts completely at this stage. Leave them loose to allow for alignment of the carriages.
  3. Insert the Track: Insert a track, approximately 1 meter longer than the distance 'C' (distance between support roller centers) obtained from your gate configuration. Place this track in the middle between the two carriages.
  4. Verify Level: Perform three types of checks using a level. The first two checks verify that the guide (track) is perfectly flat along both axes. It is important to place the level in the center of the track.
  5. Adjust Alignment: If the track and carriages are not aligned, it is possible to intervene on the nuts placed under the plates of the trolleys (carriages) to perform the necessary correction.
  6. Final Alignment Check: Run a final check by sliding the track as shown in the video. This allows you to confirm that the two carriages are aligned with each other. The holes in the base help to correctly position the carriages for alignment.
  7. Tighten Nuts: After performing all checks and ensuring proper alignment, tighten all nuts securely and remove the temporary guide plates.

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed, the BENINCA HI-MOTIONS 301.8L support roller facilitates the smooth operation of your cantilever sliding gate. The gate should move freely and quietly along the track without excessive force.

  • Ensure the gate is properly balanced and does not sag or bind at any point during its travel.
  • Avoid forcing the gate if it encounters resistance. Investigate the cause of resistance immediately.
  • Regularly observe the gate's movement for any signs of wear or misalignment.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will extend the lifespan of your support rollers and ensure continued smooth operation of your gate.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the rollers and the track to remove dirt, debris, and any obstructions that could impede movement. Use a brush or compressed air.
  • Lubrication: Apply a suitable lubricant (e.g., silicone spray or grease) to the roller bearings and the track surface every 6-12 months, or more frequently in harsh environments.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the rollers for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Check the mounting bolts for tightness and re-tighten if necessary.
  • Alignment Check: Periodically check the alignment of the carriages and the gate to ensure they remain level and properly aligned.

7. Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues and their potential solutions:
