5. Maintenance

The CHINS LiFePO4 battery is designed for minimal maintenance. The built-in BMS ensures optimal performance and protection.

  • Storage: The battery can be stored for up to 1 year without maintenance due to its low self-discharge rate. For prolonged storage, it is recommended to store the battery at approximately 50% state of charge in a cool, dry place.
  • Cleaning: Keep the battery terminals clean and free of corrosion. Use a dry cloth to wipe down the battery casing as needed.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the battery for any physical damage or loose connections.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1. Battery Voltage Below 10V and Cannot Charge

If the battery voltage drops below 10V, the BMS may have activated its low voltage protection, preventing further charging or discharging. To reactivate the BMS and restore normal function, follow one of these methods:

  1. Solar Panel Activation: Connect a 18V/24V/36V solar photovoltaic panel directly to the battery (do not connect MPPT). When the battery voltage reaches approximately 11V, the battery's BMS will be activated. (A 12V/24V/36V solar PV panel can also be used to activate the BMS.)
  2. Special Charger Activation: Use a 14.6V special charger designed for lithium iron phosphate batteries (with 0V charging function) to charge the battery. When the battery voltage reaches about 11V, the BMS will activate.
  3. Parallel Connection Activation: If you have another identical battery with a voltage higher than 13V, you can connect the two batteries in parallel. When the low voltage battery reaches around 11V, its BMS will also activate.
