3. Setup

3.1. Charging the Device

The ERICKHILL ER02 EMF Meter comes with a built-in rechargeable Lithium-polymer battery. Before first use, or when the low battery indicator appears, charge the device using the provided USB charging cable. Connect the cable to the meter's charging port and to a standard USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter).

3.2. Initial Power On

Press and hold the power button (usually labeled with a power symbol) to turn on the device. The LCD screen will light up, and the meter will enter its default measurement mode.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Power On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the HOLD button for approximately 2 seconds.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the HOLD button for approximately 2 seconds. The device also features an auto power-off function to conserve battery.

4.2. Measurement Modes (EF, MF, RF)

The ER02 can measure Electric Field (EF), Magnetic Field (MF), and Radio Frequency (RF) radiation. To switch between these modes:

  • Press the MODE button to cycle through EF, MF, and RF measurement modes. The active mode will be indicated on the display (G. EF/MF/RF Testing Indicator).

The ER02 provides distinct measurement ranges for RF, EF, and MF, with an effective range within 20cm of the source.

4.3. Unit Switching (for MF)

When in Magnetic Field (MF) mode, you can switch between milliGauss (mG) and microTesla (µT) units:

  • Press the MG/UT button to toggle between mG and µT units.

4.4. Data Hold

To freeze the current reading on the display:

  • Press the HOLD button briefly. The "HOLD" indicator (H) will appear on the screen.
  • Press the HOLD button again to release the data hold and resume live measurements.

4.5. Alarm Function

The ER02 features an alarm that activates when measured values exceed predefined safety thresholds (0.4 µT (4 mG), 40 V/m, or 1 mW/m²).

  • When the alarm is triggered, the buzzer will sound, and the display may change color or flash.
  • To toggle the sound alarm on or off, press the SOUND button. This is useful in environments where an audible alarm might be disruptive.

4.6. Graph Mode

The ER02 offers a graph display mode to visualize changes in radiation levels over time.

  • Short Press GRAPH: Switches between the standard measurement interface and the graph interface.
  • Long Press GRAPH: Toggles the LCD display background between white and black for better visibility in different lighting conditions.
