3. Setup

3.1 Setting Time and Date

  1. Pull the crown out to the furthest position.
  2. Rotate the crown to set the hour and minute hands to the correct time. Ensure AM/PM is correctly set if your watch has a 24-hour indicator or date change mechanism.
  3. Push the crown back in to start the watch.
  4. To set the date, pull the crown out to the first position and rotate it until the correct date is displayed.
  5. Push the crown back in to secure the date setting.

3.2 Battery Installation

Your watch comes with one Lithium Metal battery pre-installed. When the battery requires replacement, it is recommended to have it replaced by a qualified watch technician to ensure water resistance is maintained.

4. Operating Instructions

This watch features a tide tracker, thermometer, and analog compass. Each function is operated via dedicated pushers and indicators on the dial.

4.1 Tide Tracker

The tide tracker counts down to high or low tide. To set the tide tracker:

  1. Obtain current local tide information (e.g., from a reliable tide chart or website).
  2. Identify the time of the next high or low tide.
  3. Press the designated tide pusher (refer to your watch's specific button layout, often marked or color-coded).
  4. While holding the pusher, use the crown to align the tide hand with the current tide status (e.g., 'HIGH' or 'LOW' on the dial).
  5. Release the pusher. The tide tracker will now indicate the progression towards the next high or low tide.

Note: The tide tracker requires periodic adjustment based on local tide cycles, which can vary.

4.2 Thermometer

The watch's thermometer measures air and water temperature. For accurate readings:

  1. To measure air temperature, remove the watch from your wrist and allow it to acclimate to the ambient air for at least 20-30 minutes. Body heat can affect the reading.
  2. To measure water temperature, submerge the watch in the water for a few minutes.
  3. Press the designated thermometer pusher (refer to your watch's specific button layout). The function hand will point to the current temperature on the dial's temperature scale.

4.3 Analog Compass

The analog compass provides directional guidance. It requires calibration for accuracy.

4.3.1 Compass Calibration

  1. Ensure you are away from strong magnetic fields (e.g., large metal objects, electronics).
  2. Press and hold the compass pusher (refer to your watch's specific button layout) until the compass hand begins to rotate or indicates calibration mode.
  3. Rotate the watch slowly and steadily in a full circle (360 degrees) horizontally.
  4. The compass hand should then settle, indicating successful calibration.

Note: The compass may require re-calibration periodically or after exposure to strong magnetic fields to maintain accuracy.

4.3.2 Using the Compass

  1. Hold the watch flat and level.
  2. Press the compass pusher. The compass hand will point North.
  3. Rotate the watch until the 'N' on the bezel aligns with the compass hand.
  4. The other cardinal directions (E, S, W) and intermediate points on the bezel will then indicate your orientation.

4.4 Indiglo Night-Light

To activate the Indiglo night-light, press the crown firmly. The entire watch dial will illuminate for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Regularly clean your watch with a soft, damp cloth. For the stainless steel bracelet, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by thorough rinsing and drying. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

5.2 Water Resistance

Your watch is water-resistant to 100 meters (330 feet). This makes it suitable for snorkeling and swimming. However, it is not suitable for diving. To maintain water resistance:

  • Ensure the crown is fully pushed in at all times when the watch is exposed to water.
  • Do not operate the pushers or crown while the watch is submerged in water.
  • Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperature changes (e.g., hot showers followed by cold water), as this can compromise seals.

5.3 Battery Replacement

When the battery needs replacement, it is strongly recommended to take your watch to an authorized Timex service center or a professional watchmaker. This ensures the correct battery type is used and the watch's water resistance is properly resealed.
