2.3 Connection Modes
The DS2800 supports two primary connection modes: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
2.3.1 Wi-Fi Wireless Connection Mode
This mode allows the scanner to connect to a network via TCP or UDP protocols, supporting MQTT/HTTP for cloud server data transmission. This is ideal for integrated systems requiring network communication.

Refer to the detailed configuration barcodes in the full user manual (PDF) for specific setup steps for each connection mode.
3. Operating the Scanner
3.1 Scanning Barcodes
The DS2800 is capable of scanning both 1D and 2D barcodes, including QR codes, Data Matrix, and PDF417. It can read barcodes from various surfaces, including printed labels and digital screens.

Figure 3.1: The scanner reads various barcode types from different sources.
3.2 Trigger Modes
The scanner offers three trigger modes to suit different operational needs:
- Key Trigger Mode: The scanning light activates only when the trigger button is pressed.
- Continuous Scan Mode: The scanning light remains on constantly when the scanner is powered, allowing for hands-free scanning without pressing the button.
- Auto-induction Mode: The scanning light is off until a barcode is detected in front of the scanner. The light then automatically turns on to read the barcode.
3.3 Upload Modes
Data can be uploaded in two ways:
- Instant Upload Mode: Barcodes are read and immediately uploaded to the open file or application on your connected device.
- Storage Mode: All scanned barcodes are stored in the scanner's built-in memory. Data can then be uploaded in a batch to your device at a later time. This is useful when operating out of wireless range.
3.4 Programmable Configuration
The DS2800 can be configured to meet specific requirements:
- Add custom prefixes or suffixes to scanned data.
- Delete specific characters from scanned data.
- Add keyboard keys or combinations (e.g., TAB, CR&LF, Home) as terminators.
- Enable or disable specific barcode types.
- Turn the beep sound on or off, or change the capital/lower case output.
Detailed instructions and configuration barcodes for these settings are available in the comprehensive user manual (PDF).
4. Maintenance
4.1 Battery Care
The DS2800 is equipped with a long-life battery, providing up to 40 hours of operation on a single charge. To maximize battery lifespan, avoid extreme temperatures and fully charge the device regularly. Always use the provided charging cradle and USB cable.
4.2 Cleaning
To clean the scanner, gently wipe the exterior with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. For the scanning window, use a lens cleaning cloth or a soft cloth lightly dampened with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as they may damage the device.
4.3 Durability
The DS2800 features a rugged design for protection against dust and moisture, ensuring continuous productivity. The built-in trigger has a lifecycle of 10 million times, indicating high reliability for demanding environments.
5. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your NETUM DS2800 scanner.
5.1 Scanner Not Reading Barcodes
- Ensure the scanner is fully charged.
- Verify that the scanner is in the correct trigger mode (Key Trigger, Continuous Scan, or Auto-induction).
- Check if the barcode type is enabled in the scanner's configuration.
- Ensure the barcode is not damaged or poorly printed.
- Clean the scanning window if it is dirty or smudged.
5.2 Connection Issues (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth)
- For Wi-Fi: Ensure the scanner is configured with the correct network credentials (SSID, password). Verify network connectivity and firewall settings.
- For Bluetooth: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your host device and the scanner is in pairing mode. Check that the scanner is within the effective Bluetooth range (approx. 10m/33ft with obstacles, 20m/65ft in barrier-free environments).
- Confirm that the host device's operating system (iOS, Android, Windows, Mac OS, Linux) is compatible.

5.3 Beep Sound is Too Loud/Quiet
The scanner's beep volume can be adjusted or turned off through programmable configuration. Refer to the full user manual (PDF) for the specific configuration barcodes to modify this setting.
5.4 Data Not Uploading
- If using Instant Upload Mode, ensure the scanner is properly connected to your device and an application is open to receive data.
- If using Storage Mode, ensure you have initiated the batch upload process from the scanner.
- Check for any custom prefixes/suffixes or terminators that might be affecting data interpretation on the host device.
