Operating Instructions
Power and Brushroll Control
The Kenmore DU4080 features a 2-motor system for powerful cleaning. The main power switch is located on the unit. You can select between two modes:

Lift-Up Technology
The innovative Lift-Up technology allows you to detach the canister from the main unit, transforming it into a lightweight portable vacuum for versatile cleaning. This is particularly useful for stairs, upholstery, and above-floor areas.
- Detach Pod: Press the "Lift-Up" release button located on the main unit and lift the canister away.
- Attach Tools: Connect the desired cleaning tool (e.g., upholstery tool, 3-in-1 tool) directly to the end of the hose or the wand for extended reach.
- Reattach Pod: To return to upright mode, align the pod with the main unit and push down until it clicks securely into place.

Maintenance
Emptying the Dust Cup
For optimal performance, empty the dust cup regularly, especially when debris reaches the "Max Fill" line.
- Remove Dust Cup: Press the dust cup release button and lift the dust cup away from the vacuum.
- Empty Debris: Hold the dust cup over a trash bin and press the bottom release latch to open the bottom flap and empty contents.
- Close and Reattach: Close the bottom flap securely and reattach the dust cup to the vacuum until it clicks into place.
Cleaning the HEPA Filter
The HEPA filtration system traps 99.97% of dust down to 0.3 microns. Regular cleaning of the HEPA filter is crucial for maintaining suction power and air quality.
- Access Filter: The HEPA filter is typically located within or near the dust cup assembly. Refer to the detailed user manual for exact location.
- Clean Filter: Tap the filter gently over a trash can to remove loose dirt. If washable, rinse with lukewarm water until the water runs clear.
- Dry Thoroughly: Allow the filter to air dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinserting. Do not use a hairdryer or other heating methods.
