3. Setup

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Choose a flat, stable surface for excavation. Cover the area with newspaper or a plastic sheet to contain dust and debris.
  2. Gather Tools: Ensure you have the chisel, brush, and hammer readily available.
  3. Optional - Soften the Block: For easier excavation and to reduce dust, you may lightly spray the excavation block with water or soak it for a few minutes. Do not over-soak, as it can make the material too soft.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Excavation

  1. Begin Digging: Use the chisel and hammer to carefully chip away at the excavation block. Start from the edges and work your way towards the center.
  2. Reveal Fossils: As you dig, you will begin to uncover the dinosaur bones. Be gentle to avoid damaging the fossil pieces.
  3. Clear Debris: Use the brush to sweep away loose dust and expose the fossil pieces. For stubborn debris, you can use the chisel's pointed end.
  4. Collect Pieces: Carefully remove each bone as it becomes fully exposed. Place them aside in a safe area.

  2. Refer to Guide: Use the included educational book to identify the dinosaur and follow the assembly instructions for each specific skeleton (T-Rex, Triceratops, Stegosaurus).
  3. Connect Pieces: Carefully connect the bone pieces according to the diagrams in the book. The pieces are designed to fit together securely.
  4. Display: Once assembled, your dinosaur skeleton is ready for display!

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning Tools: After each use, clean the chisel and brush with water to remove any plaster residue. Allow them to dry completely before storing.
  • Storing Skeletons: Store assembled dinosaur skeletons in a safe place to prevent breakage.
  • Disposal: Dispose of leftover plaster material responsibly according to local regulations.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Block is too hard: If the excavation block is too difficult to chip, lightly spray it with water or soak it for a maximum of 1-2 minutes to soften the material.
  • Difficulty assembling bones: Refer to the detailed diagrams in the educational book. Ensure you are matching the correct pieces for each dinosaur. Gentle pressure may be needed to connect some parts.
  • Excessive dust: Work in a well-ventilated area. Lightly dampening the block can help reduce dust.
