1. Introduction

3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all items listed in Section 2.1 are present and undamaged. Retain the packaging for future transport or storage.

3.2 Loading Thermal Paper

  1. Open the printer cover by pressing the release button or lifting the cover latch.
  2. Insert a 58mm (2 1/4 inch) thermal paper roll into the compartment, ensuring the paper feeds from the bottom of the roll towards the front of the printer. The maximum roll diameter is 60mm.
  3. Pull a small amount of paper out past the cutting edge.
  4. Close the printer cover firmly until it clicks into place.

3.3 Connecting Power

  1. Ensure the printer's On/Off switch (located at the rear) is in the OFF position.
  2. Connect the power adapter to the Power Port on the rear of the printer.
  3. Plug the power adapter into a suitable electrical outlet.

The self-test page prints the printer's current settings and configuration, which can be useful for troubleshooting.

  1. Ensure the printer is powered off and paper is loaded.
  2. Press and hold the FEED button.
  3. While holding the FEED button, turn on the printer using the On/Off switch.
  4. Continue holding the FEED button until the ERROR LED turns off, then release the FEED button.
  5. The self-test page will print, displaying the printer's default and current settings.

4.3 Bluetooth Connection (Android & iOS)

The GAINSCHA iSH58 supports wireless Bluetooth connectivity with Android and iOS devices.

  1. Ensure the printer is powered on.
  2. On your Android or iOS device, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth ON.
  3. Search for available devices. The printer will typically appear as "iSH58" or a similar name.
  4. Select the printer to pair. If prompted for a PIN, enter 0000 or 1234 (default PINs).
  5. Once paired, you can use a compatible POS application or the GAINSCHA demo app to print.

4.4 USB Connection (Windows PC)

  2. Connect the USB cable from the printer's USB Port to an available USB port on your Windows PC.

  2. Connect the cash drawer's cable to the Cash Drawer Port on the rear of the printer.
