6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Data Transfer Mode (PC Mode)

When connected to a computer and the CLONE/PC switch is set to 'PC', the docking station functions as an external drive enclosure. Your operating system will detect the inserted drives, allowing you to access, transfer, and manage data as with any other external storage device.

  • Ensure drives are properly inserted.
  • Set the CLONE/PC switch to 'PC'.
  • Connect the docking station to your computer via the USB cable.
  • Power on the docking station. The drives will appear in your computer's file explorer.

6.2 Offline Clone Function

The offline clone function allows you to duplicate a source drive to a target drive without needing a computer. The target drive must be equal to or larger in capacity than the source drive.

Diagram illustrating the offline cloning process.

Figure 8: Diagram illustrating the offline cloning process from Source Disk (A) to Target Disk (B), with LED indicators showing progress. For more information on Seagate drives, visit Seagate Verification.

  1. Ensure the docking station is powered off and disconnected from any computer.
  2. Insert the Source Disk (A) into the first bay (labeled 'A' or 'Source').
  3. Insert the Target Disk (B) into the second bay (labeled 'B' or 'Target').
  4. Ensure the CLONE/PC switch is set to the 'CLONE' position.
  5. Power on the docking station.
  6. Press and hold the 'START' button for approximately 3-5 seconds until the clone indicator lights begin to flash.
  7. The cloning process will begin. The clone indicator lights (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) will illuminate sequentially to show progress.
  8. Once all indicator lights are solid, the cloning process is complete.
  9. Power off the docking station before removing the drives.

Important: All data on the target disk will be overwritten during the cloning process. Back up any important data on the target disk before proceeding.

6.3 Auto-Sleep Mode

The docking station features an auto-sleep mode to save energy and prolong the lifespan of your hard drives. If there is no data activity for approximately 10 minutes, the docking station will automatically enter sleep mode. The drives will spin down, and the indicator lights may change. The device will wake up automatically upon data access.
