1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Hodozzy Single Din Car Stereo. This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation, installation, and maintenance of your new car audio system. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper functionality and to prevent damage.

1.1 Safety Notice

  • This machine is designed for a vehicle 12V power supply system. Do not install it in a 24V vehicle, otherwise, it will be damaged.
  • Ensure the ground wire is properly connected. Improper grounding can cause damage to the machine or a fire.
  • For your safety, do not operate the machine while driving. Focus on the road.
  • Avoid placing the product in a humid environment or exposing it to water to prevent electric shock or other damage.
  • Important: To prevent burning the machine, do not turn on the power until the power cord is properly connected.

3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Disassembly and Installation Steps

Follow these general steps for installation. Specific vehicle requirements may vary.

  1. Test Car Stereo: Before full installation, connect the red and yellow wires of the car stereo together and then to the positive pole of a 12V battery. Connect the black wire to the negative pole of the 12V battery. After 10-15 seconds, check if the screen is lighting up. If it does, the car stereo is functioning correctly.
  2. Screw Fixed Installation: Secure the unit using screws into the vehicle's dashboard opening.
  3. Card Position Fixed Installation: Insert the unit into the car's radio slot until it clicks into place.
  4. Special Frame Fixed Installation: Use the provided mounting frame to secure the unit in the dashboard.

3.2 Power Harness Description

Refer to the wiring diagram for correct power connections. Improper wiring can damage the unit or vehicle electrical system.

3.3 Rear View Camera Wiring

To enable the reversing image function, connect the included 12-LED rear camera as follows:

  1. Connect the camera's video output to the 'Reversing Video Input' (CVBS IN) on the car stereo.
  2. Connect the camera's power cable (red wire) to the vehicle's reverse light positive (+) and the black wire to ground (-).
  3. Connect the 'Reversing Control Line' (usually a pink or brown wire from the stereo harness) to the reverse light positive (+) trigger. This signals the stereo to switch to the camera view when reverse gear is engaged.

Note: When installing, whether you use a reversing camera or not, please connect the reversing cable. Otherwise, your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals may be affected.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 CarPlay & Android Auto

Connect your smartphone via a USB data cable to access CarPlay or Android Auto. This allows for voice-activated navigation, calls, messages, and music playback directly from the car stereo screen.

  • Touch the 'CarPlay' or 'Auto' icon on the stereo's main interface.
  • Connect your original USB data cable to your phone and insert it into the USB socket of the car stereo.
  • Hold the phone still and wait for the connection. The device will connect automatically.

4.2 Mirror Link

Mirror Link allows you to display your smartphone's screen directly on the car stereo. This feature supports Android 10.0 and below, and iOS 13:4 and iPhone 11 and below.

  • Touch the 'Mirror Link' icon on the stereo's interface.
  • Connect your original USB data cable to your phone and insert it into the USB socket of the car stereo.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to download any necessary applications (e.g., 'Mirroring App') and complete the connection.

4.3 Bluetooth 5.1 & FM Radio

The stereo features Bluetooth 5.1 for stable wireless connections, enabling hands-free calls and music streaming. The FM radio supports 18 preset stations for easy access to your favorite broadcasts.

  • Bluetooth: Pair your phone to the stereo via Bluetooth settings. You can answer calls directly from the stereo and stream audio.
  • FM Radio: Access the FM radio interface to scan for stations, save presets, and enjoy clear audio.

4.4 Multi-Media Playback (USB/TF/AUX)

The unit supports various media inputs for versatile entertainment:

  • USB: Connect USB drives for audio and video playback, and utilize fast charging for your mobile phone.
  • TF Card: Insert a TF (microSD) card for media playback.
  • AUX IN: Use the 3.5mm AUX input for connecting external audio devices.

4.5 Reversing Image Function

When connected to a rear view camera, the 7-inch touchscreen will automatically display the reverse image when the car is put into reverse gear, aiding in safe parking and maneuvering.

4.6 Steering Wheel Control (SWC)

The unit supports learning functions for your car's steering wheel controls, allowing you to manage audio and other functions without taking your hands off the wheel.

  • Connect the KEY1 and KEY2 wires from the car player's power cable plug to the original car's steering wheel control wires.
  • On the stereo's interface, navigate to the 'SWC' or 'Steering Wheel Control' settings.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to assign functions to your steering wheel buttons.

4.7 User Interface (UI) Display

The intuitive UI provides easy access to all features. Common icons and their functions are detailed below:

4.8 Multi-Band EQ Mode

Adjust the audio output with the built-in multi-band equalizer. You can select from preset sound profiles (Jazz, Classic, Rock, Pop, Flat) or customize your own settings to achieve optimal sound quality.

5. Maintenance

5.1 General Care

  • Keep the unit dry. Moisture can damage the electronic circuits.
  • Do not expose the unit to extreme temperatures. High temperatures can shorten the life of electronic devices and warp plastic parts.
  • Do not drop, knock, or shake the unit. Rough handling can break internal circuit boards.

5.2 Cleaning the Screen

To clean the touchscreen, use a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn smudges, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a screen-safe cleaning solution. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
