This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective assembly, operation, and maintenance of your Behringer SM5002 Heavy-Duty Height-Adjustable Monitor Stand Set. Please read these instructions thoroughly before use and retain them for future reference.

The Behringer SM5002 monitor stand set is designed to position studio monitors or bookshelf speakers at an optimal listening height, enhancing audio clarity and imaging in various environments. Each stand features a robust metal construction, a 10-inch speaker platform, and adjustable height capabilities.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Weight Limit: Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 55 pounds (25 kg) per stand. Overloading can cause instability and damage.
  • Stability: Ensure stands are placed on a flat, stable, and level surface. Uneven surfaces can lead to tipping.
  • Assembly: Assemble the stands according to the instructions provided. Ensure all components are securely fastened before placing speakers on the platforms.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the stands, especially during assembly and when speakers are in place, to prevent accidental tipping or injury.
  • Adjustments: When adjusting the height, ensure the locking pin is fully engaged and the tightening knob is secure. Support the speaker platform during adjustment.
  • Placement: Avoid placing stands in high-traffic areas where they could be easily bumped or knocked over.
  • Cleaning: Disconnect any speakers and power cables before cleaning. Use a dry or slightly damp cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners.

  1. Attach Base Plate to Lower Support Pole:

Align the holes on the base plate with the bottom of the lower support pole. Secure them using the provided screws and washers. Tighten firmly with the Allen key.

  2. Insert Upper Adjustable Pole:

Slide the upper adjustable pole into the top opening of the lower support pole. Ensure the holes for the locking pin align.

  3. Attach Speaker Platform:

Place the speaker platform onto the top of the upper adjustable pole. Align the mounting holes and secure with the remaining screws. Ensure the rubberized padding faces upwards.

  4. Adjust Height:

To adjust the height, loosen the tightening knob on the lower support pole. Pull out the locking pin. Raise or lower the upper pole to the desired height. Re-insert the locking pin into the nearest hole and tighten the knob securely to prevent movement.

  5. Repeat for Second Stand:

Follow the same steps to assemble the second monitor stand.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Placement: Position the assembled stands on a stable, level surface in your desired listening area. Ensure adequate space around each stand for stability and cable management.
  2. Speaker Placement: Carefully place your studio monitors or speakers onto the rubberized platforms. Center the speakers on the platform for optimal balance. The rubber padding helps to isolate vibrations and prevent slippage.
  3. Height Adjustment: Adjust the height of each stand so that the tweeters of your speakers are at ear level when you are in your primary listening position. This helps to achieve the most accurate sound reproduction. Always ensure the locking pin is fully engaged and the tightening knob is secure after adjustment.
  4. Cable Management: Route speaker cables safely to avoid tripping hazards and to prevent accidental pulling of the stands.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the stands with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth can be used. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, which can damage the finish.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all screws and connections to ensure they remain tight. Re-tighten if necessary.
  • Storage: If storing the stands for an extended period, ensure they are clean and dry. They can be partially disassembled for more compact storage if needed.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Stand is Wobbly:
    • Ensure all assembly screws are fully tightened.
    • Verify the stand is on a flat, level surface. Adjust the placement if necessary.
    • Check that the locking pin for height adjustment is fully engaged and the tightening knob is secure.
  • Speaker Slipping on Platform:
    • Ensure the speaker is centered on the platform.
    • Verify the rubberized padding is clean and intact.
    • Confirm the speaker's weight does not exceed the 55-pound (25 kg) limit.
  • Difficulty Adjusting Height:
    • Loosen the tightening knob completely before attempting to pull out the locking pin.
    • Ensure no debris is obstructing the pole's movement.
