3. Installation

3.3. Head Unit Installation:

  1. Cut a circular hole in the desired mounting surface according to the head unit's dimensions.
  2. Insert the head unit into the opening.
  3. Secure the head unit using the provided mounting bracket and screws.

3.4. Speaker Installation:

  1. Using the provided template (if applicable) or the specified cut-out diameter, cut holes for the speakers.
  2. Connect the speaker wires to the terminals on the back of each speaker. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
  3. Mount the speakers into the cut-out holes and secure them with the provided screws.

3.5. Antenna Installation:

  1. Choose a mounting location for the antenna that provides clear line of sight and is away from obstructions.
  2. Mount the flexible mast antenna using its 180-degree swivel base.
  3. Route the antenna cable to the head unit and connect it to the designated antenna input.

3.6. Wiring Connections:

Connect the power, ground, and speaker wires to the head unit according to the wiring diagram provided in the quick start guide. The head unit supports four channels with a maximum output power of 40W per channel. RCA outputs are available for connecting an external amplifier if desired.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Power On/Off:

  • Press the Power button (usually marked with a power symbol) to turn the unit on or off.

4.2. Source Selection:

  • Press the SRC (Source) button to cycle through available audio sources: FM radio, AM radio, Bluetooth, and USB.

4.3. Volume Control:

  • Use the VOL + and VOL - buttons to adjust the audio volume.

4.4. Bluetooth Pairing:

  1. Select Bluetooth as the audio source. The unit will enter pairing mode, indicated by a flashing Bluetooth icon on the display.
  2. On your mobile device, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select "Herdio" (or similar name) from the list to pair. Once paired, the Bluetooth icon will stop flashing.
  4. You can now stream audio wirelessly from your device.

4.5. Radio Operation (FM/AM):

  1. Select FM or AM as the audio source.
  2. Use the Tune Up and Tune Down buttons to manually tune to a station.
  3. Press and hold the Tune Up or Tune Down buttons for automatic station seeking.
  4. To save a station, tune to the desired frequency, then press and hold a preset button (if available) until the display confirms the save.

4.6. USB Playback:

  • Insert a USB drive into the USB port. The unit will automatically switch to USB source and begin playback of compatible audio files (FLAC/MP3/WMA).
  • Use the Previous/Next Track buttons to navigate through songs.
  • Use the Play/Pause button to control playback.
