4.2 Using the Steam Wand for Milk Frothing
- Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) up to one-third full.
- Press the Steam button on the touch screen. The steam indicator light will flash while heating and become solid when ready.
- Position the steam wand just below the surface of the milk.
- Turn the steam control knob to release steam.
- Lower the pitcher slightly to introduce air into the milk, creating foam. Then, submerge the wand deeper to heat the milk to your desired temperature (around 140-150°F / 60-65°C).
- Once frothed, turn the steam control knob off and then press the Steam button again to exit steam mode.
- Wipe the steam wand immediately with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your espresso machine.
5.1 Daily Cleaning
- Portafilter and Filters: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under running water. Use a brush to remove any stubborn coffee residue.
- Steam Wand: Immediately after frothing milk, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth. Purge the steam wand briefly by turning the steam knob to release any milk residue from inside.
- Drip Tray: The drip tray is removable and should be emptied and rinsed daily or when the indicator floats up.
- Water Tank: Empty and rinse the water tank daily. Refill with fresh, cold water.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
5.2 Descaling
Mineral deposits from water can build up inside the machine over time, affecting performance. Descale your machine every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
- Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions (e.g., citric acid solution or commercial descaling agent).
- Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
- Place a large container under the group head and steam wand.
- Turn on the machine and allow it to preheat.
- Run approximately half of the descaling solution through the group head by pressing the double-cup button multiple times.
- Turn the steam knob to release steam through the steam wand until about half of the remaining solution has passed through.
- Turn off the machine and let it sit for 15-20 minutes to allow the solution to work.
- Repeat steps 5-7 until all the descaling solution has been used.
- Rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh, clean water.
- Run several full tanks of fresh water through both the group head and steam wand to thoroughly rinse out any descaling solution.
