Product Overview

The SmallRig Camera Tripod (Model 15551) is a versatile and robust aluminum tripod/monopod designed for photographers and videographers. It features a 360° rotatable ball head, adjustable height from 16 to 71 inches, and a detachable leg that converts into a monopod. Setup Instructions

1. Unfold the Tripod Legs: Gently pull the legs outwards until they lock into position. The leg angle adjustment locks allow for different spread angles.
2. Extend Tripod Height: Unlock the quick-release flip-locks on each leg section. Extend the legs to your desired height. Securely close all flip-locks to ensure stability. The tripod can extend from 16 inches to 71 inches.
3. Attach Camera/Device:
   • For cameras: Ensure your camera has a 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 threaded hole. Attach the camera to the quick release plate on the ball head. Tighten the screw securely.
   • For smartphones: Attach the provided smartphone holder to the quick release plate. Insert your smartphone into the holder, ensuring it is firmly gripped.
4. Adjust Ball Head: Loosen the main knob on the ball head to adjust the camera angle. Use the smaller knobs for fine-tuning the pan and tilt. Tighten the knobs once the desired position is achieved.

Operating the Tripod

Height Adjustment

The tripod features 4-section column legs with quick-release flip-locks. To adjust the height, simply open the flip-locks, extend or retract the leg sections, and then firmly close the locks. This allows for quick and easy height adjustments from 16 inches (43 cm) to 71 inches (180 cm).

360° Ball Head & Panorama

The specially designed 36mm metal ball-head allows for 360-degree rotation, enabling you to capture photos and videos at any angle, both horizontally and vertically. Use the main knob to loosen/tighten the ball head movement and the smaller knobs for precise adjustments. Integrated bubble levels help ensure your shots are perfectly straight.

2-in-1 Tripod & Monopod Function

One of the tripod legs can be easily detached and converted into a monopod. This feature is ideal for situations where a full tripod is not necessary or practical, such as hiking or quick shots on the go. Simply unscrew the designated leg and attach the ball head for monopod use.

Low Angle & Macro Photography

The central pole of the tripod can be inverted, allowing for extremely low-angle shooting and macro photography. This provides flexibility for capturing unique perspectives close to the ground.

Wide Compatibility

The tripod is universally compatible with cameras and devices featuring 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded holes, including DSLR cameras, action cameras, mirrorless cameras, cell phones (with included holder), and projectors. Additionally, three 1/4" threaded holes are integrated into the bracket for attaching external accessories like magic arms, monitors, or microphones.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: Wipe down the tripod with a soft, dry cloth after each use. If exposed to dirt, sand, or water, clean thoroughly to prevent damage to moving parts.
• Lubrication: Avoid applying lubricants to the leg sections or locking mechanisms unless specifically recommended by SmallRig.
• Storage: Store the tripod in its carrying bag in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Inspection: Periodically check all screws, knobs, and locks to ensure they are secure. Tighten any loose components with the provided Allen wrenches.

Troubleshooting

• Tripod Instability:
  • Ensure all leg sections are fully extended and their flip-locks are securely closed.
  • Verify that the leg angle adjustment locks are engaged correctly.
  • Check if the camera/device is properly mounted and tightened on the quick release plate.
• Ball Head Movement Issues:
  • If the ball head is too loose, tighten the main adjustment knob.
  • If movement is stiff, ensure no sand or debris is obstructing the ball head mechanism. Clean if necessary.
• Leg Sections Sticking:
  • Clean the inside of the leg sections if they become gritty. Avoid excessive force when extending or retracting.
