3. Safety Information
Always prioritize safety during installation and operation. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in injury or damage to equipment.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves and eye protection.
- Ensure the solar panel is covered or facedown during wiring to prevent accidental power generation.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the solar panel or charge controller.
- Verify correct polarity when connecting wires to avoid damage to the system components.
- Keep children and unauthorized personnel away from the installation area.
- Consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about any part of the installation process.
4. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps for proper installation of your solar panel kit.
4.1. Mounting the Solar Panel
The Z-brackets provided allow for secure mounting of the solar panel. Choose a location that receives maximum direct sunlight throughout the day, free from obstructions like trees or buildings. The panel can be mounted on a roof, RV, boat, or other suitable flat surface.
- Attach the Z-brackets to the pre-drilled holes on the solar panel frame using the provided screws.
- Position the solar panel in the desired location and mark the mounting points for the Z-brackets.
- Drill pilot holes at the marked points.
- Secure the solar panel to the surface using the remaining mounting hardware. Ensure all connections are tight and secure.

4.2. Wiring the System
The wiring sequence is crucial for preventing damage. Always connect the charge controller to the battery first, then the solar panel.
- Connect Charge Controller to Battery (Step 1): Connect the battery connection cables (with ring terminals) to the battery terminals. Ensure the positive (+) cable (red) connects to the positive terminal of the battery and the negative (-) cable (black) connects to the negative terminal. Then, connect the other ends of these cables to the battery terminals on the 30A solar charge controller. The charge controller display should illuminate.
- Connect Solar Panel to Charge Controller (Step 2): Connect the solar cables from the solar panel's junction box to the solar panel input terminals on the 30A solar charge controller. Ensure correct polarity (positive to positive, negative to negative). The charge controller will now begin regulating the power from the solar panel to charge the battery.
- Connect Inverter (Optional, Step 3): If using an inverter, connect it to the battery terminals. Do NOT connect the inverter to the load terminals of the charge controller for high-power applications.

5. Operating Instructions
Once installed, your Topsolar system operates automatically to charge your battery.
- The 30A solar charge controller prevents overcharging and over-discharging of your battery, extending its lifespan.
- The controller's display shows real-time charging status, battery voltage, and other system parameters.
- The integrated USB ports on the charge controller can be used to charge small electronic devices.
- For optimal performance, ensure the solar panel is clean and free from debris.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your solar panel kit.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the surface of the solar panel with a soft cloth and mild soapy water to remove dirt, dust, and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
- Inspections: Regularly inspect all wiring connections for tightness and corrosion. Check the solar panel for any physical damage, such as cracks or delamination.
- Battery Care: Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for your specific battery type regarding maintenance and charging cycles.

7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your solar panel kit, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Power Output:
- Ensure the solar panel is exposed to direct sunlight.
- Check all wiring connections for proper polarity and tightness.
- Verify that the charge controller is correctly connected to the battery and the battery has sufficient charge to power the controller's display.
- Low Charging Current:
- Clean the solar panel surface.
- Ensure there are no shadows on the panel.
- Check for damaged cables or connectors.
- Charge Controller Display Off:
- Confirm the battery is connected correctly and has enough voltage.
- Check the fuse (if applicable) in the battery connection line.
